can you say why you like the wcf better? Oh and is it the bf or regular wcf hull

Mine is the "regular" hull, but I also own a BF hull---kind of. That is a long story, though. :splatt:

From my limited experience, the WCF hull seems to jump out of the water with less effort (at the right RPM) and loosens up easier during stabs and rolls. I have ordered a -4" pole for this ski since my footholds are farther forward and larger than the Wammer ski.

You are welcome to ride either of my skis for a comparison.

I've heard great things about the XFT, the TKO, and the Lightweight DE, but all I've owned are OEM (Kawi and Yami), Wammer, and WCF.

I"m leaning more towards a WCF now. I"m still much a beginner to free style, so its not like I have exceeded my stock ski, but lighter and easier to manuver is what I'm after. Plus my stocker is still stock minus the xmetal steering. So Its unmolested and might bring some nice cash to help pay off the new hull.

Steve (WCF) did a great job on my hull. He even did some custom mods as he was building it. I brought him a carbon fiber exhaust tube and he used it (no particular reason, just that I had it and wanted something different).

He always welcomes you to his shop as he's building your ski too.

At the time I bought mine I also had a hard time choosing between Wamiltons and WCF. I ultimately chose WCF because Steve sounded more interested in working with me on ideas I had.

Wammer has been doing it longer and also makes a nice boat, so I don't think you will go wrong with either.

I can't comment on the other builders except that I understand that XFT has some competitive pricing on their hulls also.

nice boat! IS yours regular length or the shorter hull?

how did everything go togeather as you assembled it?

Still trying to get pricing on xft hulls.

Regular length. It behaves drastically different as I switch between a D-cut stock rideplate and a 1 inch long carbon plate.

I was surprised at how perfectly everything lined up when building it. No problems at all.

With the D-cut OEM ride plate (which is shorter), the rear of the hull slides and the nose comes up. With the longer plate, teh nose stays down a litle more and you can tame the ski a little better. I like both behaviors at dirrerent times.

Word to the wise.......once you do a light weight hull you can't go back :bananajump:

Adrenaline-wise, it's great.

Wallet-wise, it sucks.

Light hulls, big motors, race gas, it gets expensive, but contrary to what anyone says, there is no such thing as too much power (i.e., either by big motor or lightweight hull) and you just find a way to satisfy that addiction.

cool. Can you still rip around and carve like a stock SJ? Or is it strictly free style setup.

Honestly the WCF hull is the closest-feeling to stock I have ridden (and tried quite a few from stock to ultra-light). Personally I like it, but then a gain, I'm just a power junkie that can't ride for beans.

It's all about power-to-weight (like you've seen on other threads). A hull is a great way to increase that.

Good luck in your turmoil of confusion in deciding.
