Other What did you fab up today? A thread for the home fabricators!

Looks great. I really liked 1991 when they went to the blue forks, remember them brand new at the dealership.
I had one of the white 1990 KDX200's back in the day.

Nice job on the '90!

I restored a 2000 a while back. Picked it up out in the eastern plains of Colorado and gave it a few victory laps in the mtns before I sold it. It was a fun project and bike but I have a 2020 Beta 200RR as well and this bike was to ride during a part shortage with covid which kept me from riding the Beta.

How do you like that Beta? I have always tried to find one in the wild to take a ride on but no luck in Michigan so far.

The KX was a real basket case. I have a few tanks of fuel through it but its not my main ride. I'll either keep it parked in the corner or sell it. It was just a project cause I was bored. I have an 01 CR as my woods bike. Been thinking about retiring it as new OEM parts are getting hard to find. Just a few weeks back I smashed one of my radiators and had a heck of a time finding a new oem.

I think we need to start "The Old Dirtbike Thread".

Made me a set of soft jaws for both my bench vises this week, a soft push plug for the little hydraulic press, and cut a pair of cross bars for the press too.

These are just for things that might need a less resilient surface. I have steel as well, they're on top of the press...kinda dangerous place for them to be...think I'll go relocate those now lol

LoL, good idea...

I’d be afraid of that soft tip too, it could split and shoot out the sideways at your face....or a child using it not thinking

Looks good, not trying to criticize your work

Yeah I hear ya fella. I spent just over a decade working in a machine shop and a lot of time on a press broaching parts. We used aluminum blocks a lot as the sacrificial medium when pressing the delicate parts. The aluminum won't blow up and fly away, it's too soft for that. It'll tear, distort, warp or just compress. With the ram cap on there it will serve to be the same as having a buffering square block on top of the part being pushed. And no worries about anyone but me using it, I'm a lone wolf in life brother, no family members at all, just me :)

What about one of the metal brakes for bending metal in the small Hyd presses?

For some reason I can’t upload pics right now.

What are the advantages of using the liquid interface 3D printers besides speed?
SLA printers have better resolution, parts especially small ones with fine features come off looking way better from an sla printer. As printed the parts are much more isotropic too. FDM parts can have pretty poor adhesion between layers especially if your temp, speed etc aren't dialed in very well.
