it hurts. Nothing to do now but rebuild. Crying about it isnt going to fix it lol.

Oh well time to go make the little 61X/61X turd motor I have in the fixed steer cry tomorrow. I'm only into that motor for $100 Hope It blows too, maybe I'll quit jet skiing.
I would cry lol then get yelled at by the wifey. That sucks dude...

no rust on his crank. it was the wrist pin bearing forsure. the other one was getting ready to fly apart also. some of the rollers were flat on the good bearing..just started to eat the rod. got me thinking about my 5mm stroker season #2 on that.humm time to ride the fixsteer with the 701 for now.

note dont try and run a motor that sounds like its "not running right" it will cost ya. bust out the rope and tow it in. you can save yourself some money.

Part # for sea-doo bearings??

I'm going to retrfit both of my 865s with sea-poo bearings when I can.

Updated Seadoo part# 420832553 (superceded by 290832552)

also finding it referenced as BEARING-NEEDLE (290832550 290832552 NEW NO. 420832553)

I thought the same thing last night and searched around a bit last night for some. Best price I found was $17.97.

I actually have 4 of the caged bearings on the shelf left over from my 951. They only have a couple hours on them but they are cheap enough that one should really just buy them new.

The cageless bearings can be a pain but a smear of grease will hold everything in place and make it much easier. I had plenty of failures on my 951 and the wrist pins were never ever an issue; caged or uncaged.

For those who want to bullet proof any of their SS865's or XS1000's use this bearing:
Seadoo needle bearing part # 290-832-552.
It is cageless, so you just have to be more careful with the installation.

SeaDoo Part # 420832553 replaces part# 290832552

I don't ride any flat water either. 7 gallons through it everytime I ride and I pin it to win it all over. none of this brap brap brap brappppppp stuff for me.

So what kind of wrist pin bearing that went out ? A new bearing should out last a piston as long as it has good lubrication. I've had a few cranks go on me over the years but never a wrist pin bearing
Detonation is evil. May as well hit the top of your piston with a SledgeHammer.

Wow! Spinning image of what mine looked like!

I'm 20 hours in on my motor now, but I'm a lil paranoid about the crank bearing on the coupler side. After a 10+ min ride, my coupler (engine side) gets hot as! I can grab and hold it only for around 4-5 seconds! Is this something to worry about? After what I went thru already, I don't mind stripping the motor down again to fix a potential problem like this.

I guess the lesson about these motors are: be prepared to take it out/strip down and maintain to the absolute finest detail. If something doesn't feel right while riding, unexpected stall, power loss etc, cut it and tow it in!!!

Although a mate just pulled his 865 down for a rebuild, had 250 hours on it, only running bpipe, msd though.. Apparently he pulled it at exactly the right time, evident cracks were found in the wrist pin bearing cages!

The reason to all this is, the wiseco bearing cage supplied with the pistons are alot thinner compared to Yamaha! Yami or Kawi bearings don't fit in these wiseco pistons because the pin is larger in diameter.

My other bearing was very close to letting go also. Maybe 150 hours on the motor? 1 season of riding.

I just bought an hour meter for it. Wish I had one before this.

Dcptr what was the Wiseco part number?

I'll get back to you on that. I think they are custom wiseco pistons, just for xscream motors. I enquired getting these pistons through wiseco dealers down here but none could help me out. AJSP (our xscream distributor) were they only ones who could get these piston kits in. They include piston, pin, Bearing and clips. I'm on 88mm at the moment, which makes it an 845cc I believe..

As I told you in PM. I ordered everything to replace my wrist pin bearings with the cageless seadoo ones chucky suggested. I'd say I have just about the same amount of hrs on my motor, and bought it at the beginning of last season too. I'll post up pics of what mine look like once I get the old ones out. The first pic with the wear on the good rod is def concerning.

I was thinking it was time for an hour meter as well.

100 hrs on a watercraft two stroke is a lot, not uncommon but alot. Now your asking an engine to put out double the power and still maintain the same reliable running time. These engines require more attension to their running condition than a lightly modded 701, so if your running one you should also understand that your going to have to invest in replacement and wear parts more frequently. Racers understand this very well, freeride/freestylers need to learn this. If you don't understand this concept then maybe you should not run one of these types of engines. Not meaning to sound harsh but it is a reality. Some of our race motors required piston changes after only 3hrs of run time, and the factory race teams replaced pistons after a heat.
