100 hrs on a watercraft two stroke is a lot, not uncommon but alot. Now your asking an engine to put out double the power and still maintain the same reliable running time. These engines require more attension to their running condition than a lightly modded 701, so if your running one you should also understand that your going to have to invest in replacement and wear parts more frequently. Racers understand this very well, freeride/freestylers need to learn this. If you don't understand this concept then maybe you should not run one of these types of engines. Not meaning to sound harsh but it is a reality. Some of our race motors required piston changes after only 3hrs of run time, and the factory race teams replaced pistons after a heat.

Looks like I will keep what I have!

This has nothing to do with manufacturers xscream or Dasa it has to do with mechanical design and installation. IMO

Agreed and thank you.

I'm not bashing anyone here. Sent my cylinder back to xscream to get fixed. They have been nothing but helpful. Just sharing my experience here. Will I run and alternative bearing when it's rebuilt? Of course.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that is thinking this so what did the new wristpin, cageless bearing, base gasket and head gasket cost you anyways?

I told them what I wanted, they asked if I wanted a call back with a total. I told them not needed just send it out. Once it hits my card I'll let you know.

Yup, thanks for the reminder.

If your power valves are getting clogged with gunk, your using the wrong oil! You should not be using mineral oil, yamalube, tcw-3 etc. full synthetic, ester or castor only. I also found out the hard way, the last owner used yamalube untill I got it, the breather on the pv's got clogged and the rubber boots blew off the valves, which stopped them from opening.. Didn't know till I got back on the beach that the motor was pushing 240psi comp at 8000rpm!

I didn't have to rebuild my ss865 till the 3rd season of riding. At least 1 hour a day x at least 5 days a week all year. That's a lot of hours. Even when I pulled my engine my power valves weren't gunged up with oil. Im pretty sure the temp at what the engine is running at also effects the oil on the power valves. If it's not running hot enough it won't burn the oil off causing it to build up on the power valves. At least that's my understanding.
Like said before this thread shouldn't be against x-scream but a reminder to check ANY high performance 2-stroke engine cause they go thru a lot of stress. I've had stock 701s that needed a rebuild sooner than my ss865

The valves themselves weren't dirty. It was the bellows section that was full of oil. Like the sludge that comes out of a b pipe headpipe when you pull it after a couple seasons.

I pulled mine down this weekend just for good measure. Everything looks good inside as far as bearings go. Other than some minor scuffing on the pistons, it was in perfect shape and it was all a waste of time. I did replace the wristpins and bearings while I had it apart so I should be good for a couple more seasons after this.

Gotta love 32:1 mix for no carbon buildup whatsoever.

What oil are you using?

Valves need to be cleaned each 50hrs on injected 2T RFI motors ...
I mean you can't have everything... power without maintenance is going to end bad .

my 0000.2 cents
