Congratulations on your wins!!!

What are those rear sponsons and do you recommend them? Or would you suggest something else?

Are you left handed?

Rear sponsons are the Rocketship Watersports and RHAAS collaboration Fish Stix.

Im not sure what I recommend.

There is another product from BJ’s Perfomance which looks more appealing to me in pictures but I have not seen them in person. Appear to be adjustable.

Currently I’m testing and riding my ski with no sponsons. There is a purity to this boat without hull mods that I kind of enjoy.

I am not left handed but am efficient with both hands. Are you asking because I am launching switch in the race picture?

Yes, you were starting out of the race hole riding switch.
I recognize and had that same Donjoy ACL brace. As a snow skier/instructor I can almost 100% recognize which is the skier's strong side. As an ambidextor, you stumped me.

I can barely make a right turn (consistently). Right foot forward sucks. Left foot forward, right foot toes on the edge of the tray, heel up hanging off the end, turning counterclockwise -- I am pretty darn good. So, I don't do left turns any more, not until my fall rate turning right is reduced.

Very clean looking ski!

So, those rear sponsons in your photo are what you don't recommend? Please post up the ones that you prefer when you get them.

Thanks for the thread!

Picked up a barn ski. Fine tuning the Yamasaki. Installed a bilge pump. Built a gas tank from franks red hot. Winter surf is coming..

She legitimately walks away from lites skis in clean water!
You're 100 lbs or so lighter than a sxr and at least 50 lbs lighter than a superjet haha. The key here is clean water, once it starts chopping up, I bet they run you back down. Still cool to get the win. Sounds like you got a. Good enough lead from the start t9 hold them off for the rest. I still.had the 550 pump on my ski with the 750 engine and could hang with the sjs and sxrs only in smooth water. Once the chop started, they would catch right back up haha

I am still thinking of converting my 550sx wiht a spare Yamaha 650 engine which I have.

But I am afraid of the "vibration" which I read about after these conversions.

How is your 701 conversion ski performing in regard to vibration and performance in general?

Performance is awesome. I don’t notice a vibration issue. There are a lot of things that could be vibrating when building a conversion ski so I don’t think it is a systemic problem with the kit.

So Ill speak up because I am someone who is not happy with their rhaas mounts for 2 reasons.
1. I bought them because they "had" lifetime warranty, which is no longer offered and I have heard you dont get grandfathered in.
2. Urethane mounts just vibrate. I should have known this because I once replaced mounts in my street/track car to urethane and everything started vibrating and some things shaking loose. So the rhaas SJ mounts I have, also vibrate like crazy despite being anal about making sure everything was aligned with feeler gauges in multiple directions. Its just the nature of urethane mounts.
Hopefully they are replaceable with stock SJ rubber mounts (now im talking the 550 conversion mounts).

I also pulled the RHASS mounts from my ski. The vibration from them was bad.

I'm rocking $19/piece WSM engine mounts? Probably 3-4 season of stabs, no issues.

I’d like to do a conversion(701 in a 550 hull) but I want to be able to use OEM superjet or Yamaha couch mounts.

Are there any kits that use Yamaha mounts?

I really haven’t done anything radical enough to know if they hold up or not. This has me thinking about if SJ mounts work or if they could be shaved to work. I’m painting my ski this winter so while I have it apart I’ll do some measuring.

Rode Roy's 650 swapped 550 at point St George. Did a few nose stabs. Was a fun ski. Pump was a lacking as was the tray. I could definitely have fun with it tho.

Remember when you had the hippy chick come watch us ride south beach? Remember I was drunk and she showed me a pic of her twin, and I told her she could be much prettier without the dreads? Mr smoooooth

Wait. Is this 701 from that sj?
