I hate when this topic comes up. Rotate the housing, extend the cord a little, try different attachment points on your vest, etc, etc. But always run a lanyard.
Only takes one time for your ski to speed off out of control and injure or kill someone on the beach. Being a part of this sport...
I ran LEDs on my trailers for about 5 years now and it seems they only last a year at best before they start failing (one or more LED at a time usually). Just switched over to regular bulbs and they have been good so far. I say if you deal with salt water at all, stay with the cheapo bulbs...
Im no v wake expert, but it looks like you're going a bit too fast and not letting the ski really sink down before the wake. Keep it up though, you're halfway there!
OEM 2010 SJ here and its going to stay that way. I have my ski set up beautifully for me and my riding style in the surf. I've ridden a number if a/m hulls and the price isn't worth it to me. Strictly my opinion of course.
I prefer the benefits of a longer, heavier hull in the surf. My ski...
Check that big, white, plastic nut that holds the steering cable next to the pump. If that is loose, it could cause the symptoms you're describing. Also, I would take it off and make sure all the parts are in there and not missing.
That is sick, but you could get away with riding a stand up ski in surf like that back then. Locations with surf like that are generally off limits to ride a stand up or will get us jumped by "territorial" surfers.
i had the x metal quick turn plate and had to keep messing with it to get it to stop loosening after every ride. In the end it had about 4 fat washers, a longer SS bolt, couple jam nuts and a ton of red locktite. Switched to Cold Fusion's fat bar setup and couldn't be happier.
Flush cut stocker here too. Have a d cut plate as well but it sinks the tail too much and keeps the tubbies out if the water.
Tubbies and quicker steering will help overcome the 08+ hulls' tendency to stay hooked.
