Start with the simple stuff.....put a load tester on the battery (make sure it is good) or if no load tester is available put a known good battery on it and a volt meter and it should be reading over 13 volts at idle.....if not then quite possibly a chaging system problem.
I've been riding yamaha's since i was 5 years old (dirtbikes) and the only oil I have used in all of my 2 stroke yamaha's (to include a GP 1300r and RN SJ) since then was yamalube. Never had a problem due to oil failure...rider failure yes..oil failure never.
u may want to mic the piston and cylinder to check for proper clearance,make sur the piston ring gaps are offset and check the o ring for the head...strt there and see what happens
keith is right i would use blue loctite, red will pull the coil out with the bolt....i am pretty sure loctite color code is, from weakest to strongest, purple, blue, red and green
i hope they hold true to that because i siliconed the cap onto the special charging adapter on the battry....but it seems tat a few people re having an issue with charging bateries
I cant figure out for the life of me why battery would go dead on a regular charger but is suppose to charge properly while the ski is running. i mean they dont make a convertr to hook a special charging adaptor up to my stator an then tothe battery.......does this mean that while i am riding...

what was the reason you took the top end apart..were you having issues or just wanting to freshen it up. if you only have lines running on one side of the piston that is typical of improper warm up...if it is on 4 sides of the piston that is usually caused by improper gas oil ratio and usually...
