"Right... So... Lets start at the begining", I said to myself. So, I started on the crack on the hull.
This was the third layer of Carbon Kevlar over the crack. Each layer was rotated and cut larger then the other. Just incase you were wondering, I used epoxy resin from a marine store:
Completey stripped the rest of the ski to see what else is wrong with it.
Noticed that the Water injection system was not even connected (never was by the looks of things) and the way the cooling system was routed was completely incorrect!
Here are some pictures of the bad bits:
Some History...
When I went to buy this ski it was a runner and had just been on the water the weekend before. I got to the location to try it out before I bought it and was looking forward to getting wet. We went to start it up and it cracked into life. Sounded great! I got the lad to stop...
Just found a dirty great crack in my pump housing causing the wear ring to open up to 1.78mm in that area. I have stripped it down and removed the ring and I was wondering if it is possible to get these things welded?
Post picture in a bit...
Cheers guys in advance.
Thanks guys but in the end I ground out the inner casing of the bearing and then used my drimmal to cut a big grove in the outer casing to relieve the pressure. It prctically fell out but it was a long winded process...
Thanks Mark but I don't think that will work as it is a Bearing Cup, one side is capped off and only has a smaller hole. As you can see in the Picture below:
This is the bearing and a top view of the cup that it goes into.
I have just bought a second hand steering system for my FX1. It is from a SJ but I know it will fit. My questions is that it has came with a rebuild kit (as the bearing is completely fupped) and I cannot get the old bearing out from the bearing cup, oh, just to let you know that I don't have...
2 Pack Epoxy is the way forward... Personally, I would not just use carbon fiber on its own. Carbon Kevlar should be used as it has a higher impact resistance imho.
I have so far spent some on my ski an it is still not ready. I would of liked to of gone down the foothold road but I cannot really afford it right now nor do I have the ability/skill to do them any justice. I just thought a strap or two may help me on my way in a little surf. As it is, my ski...
