I'm having issues my squarenose 701 melting the rear piston, the engine is running very hot for whatever reason and i cannot figure out why.
Setup:
61x/61x with top end ported by CPT @Nuklear6 for bottom end.
1.50 prox pistons with .0035-.0045 clearance
bored out manfiold to accept 46 sbn...
Compression changes should not make you change jetting. Your stalling is caused by something impeding fuel flow. Your spring and needle will already be open at half throttle so it shouldn't affect anything after that point. Go through your Carb and fuel system. Something may be clogging it. If...
I've had the random no crank issue before Ina 650, ended up being a very unreliable battery on its last legs.. Replaced it and all was good Togo. Not sure about no spark though.

Its not really about weight, since the savings are so small. The whole purpose is to prevent all the water the stock hood lets in. You block the stock air grates and but breathers in the back so you don't gulp as much water when you go under. Worth it on any square.
Cons are its a pain the ass...
my understanding was that bogging meant there is too much fuel so it dies down slowly, hesitiation means there isn't enough fuel so it doesn't respond to throttle opening?
Good to know, my engine porter has me running 135main, 117.5p on 61x/61x with 46 sbn, sounds a bit low IMO but i will find out when i get on the water monday.
Heat worked wonders! Still took a while to get free but a lot easier..
I weighed them with a bathroom scale just to see the weight..

How do you remove a square nose hood liner?
I've been using a hammer and chisel and have gotten most of the sections seperated.
How did you guys reach the sections where a chisel, cut off wheel and angle grinder don't reach.

Just buy some 3/8 aluminum or stainless tubing. Grind some teeth into one end. Put it in your drill chuck, and drill a new tube in from the pump tunnel to the engine bay. There was a thread on pwctoday, i will post the link later.
