I'm not a huge fan of my side exhaust and am thinking about switching to the pump cavity mainly because I think it would be quieter than conventional rear exhaust. I'd like to hear from someone who did it first though.

I made one out of stainless once, I don't remember exactly how thick the wall was but it was pretty thin. It was leftover tube for railing. You could probably get away with pretty thin aluminum too if you designed it correctly.

I've been thinking of using a strut like that for years. I think a hydraulic cylinder with a swich on the bars to allow movement would be sweet, you could have the best ofboth worlds. Great way to water the lawn!

I tried that on my old 650sx back in the day, it made it handle reaaly weird (bad).

How do you like the exhaust going into the pump? Any downsides?

My favorite all-around plate that I've used is my bright green ocean pro finned plate, it's only an inch or two longer than stock so it still jumps pretty good but it doesn't slide out super easy like the stock one does, and when it does slide it's more predictable than other aftermarket plates...

I should add that a 750 would be just about my last choice for a ski to keep and ride, the SXR would be my 1st choice other than a Yamaha.

Do Not wet sand/buff if you're using single stage! It will really F it up with all that flake.

The 750 will get about twice the fuel economy and feels smaller/lighter. The SXR handles much better and has better bottom end power.

I think all you'd need is the different exhaust hose, you could check an online parts supplier for different part #s to be sure.

Do octanes have super-beefy cranks? The Arctic Cat 700 snowmobile that I rebuilt this winter had a crank that dwarfed my 701's.

Yep, me too. I try to keep it to no more than 2 motorized hobbies at a time though.
