It came from McMasterCarr I believe. I had clogging issues in NJ that I havent had at other rides, some of the NJ guys recommended running a less fine strainer, I am not running them right now on the Viper.
Do you have pics of what you are working with? If you can drill it oversize slightly off center as it is right now, you can always drill out the motor mount to match it.
I jacked up an insert on a hull a few years ago. Ended up drilling it one size over and retapping the brass insert and it was fine from that point onwards. Sounds like you might have to grind everything out and reglass/panel bond in a new insert.
Doing some snooping right now on the bed plates. I spoke with the guy who built this one, he said the parts are available to drop a 701 based motor in there as you have mentioned. I think I will go the LX bedplate route for sure, just looking into what to do for the mid shaft. I have the guys...
This ski comes stock with the most rocker I know of, just ride it like it is!
Yes, this area definitely needs some reinforcement! I have one in my garage right now waiting to get some glass work and a 701! Going to be chatting with the guys who built this thing to see if I can get some insight...
I WD-40 mine, but I have often wondered if a graphite based lube would be better. We used this on the railroad when I used to work there to lube switches, worked really well and dried on the switch plates to give a more permanent lubricant that didn't pick up sand or grit.
I agree with this, BUT :-), some AM hulls for surf are just too good to bother trying to replicate it with a RN hull. AM is always going to be more $$$ than modding a SJ, but some of the hulls are definitely worth it!
Made an update to my setup by installing a PFP, wow!
All I can say is that the pipe has "unleashed the dragon" of power, boat is super nasty now! Going to have to go to a 148 pump here in the near future so it doesn't get blown away!
