I had similar holds in one of mine but I took the saws all to the very back so you can come straight in from the back and reshaped all of it. If your ankles hit or rub, it hurts and they suck. You'll see

On a superjet, the holds need to be as far in back as humanly possible. You get the most leverage back there. If you want them for rolls, you can actually crank the ass end around if you're coming up short. Flatwater freestyle skis have them forward to improve center of gravity. Not necessary...
