There is a ton of room in there. I will remeasure everything tonight and grab a bunch of pics. Its a PITA to get my pipe out so I have been dreading pulling the engine to replace this.
A straight edge layed across the top was how I checked the vertical. It rested on both sides of the coupler flat. I am not sure how to do it any other way. I did not check it after adding the dampener. I plan on double checking it tonight since I have not taken anything apart yet.
I measured the gap between the hull side coupler to the engine side coupler. I did this on the left side and the right and compared the numbers then again on the bottom and on the top. It was all spot on after shimming slightly this way and that. I did this with the rubber out. In my hull there...
I am not saying alignment is not the issue because something could have moved, but I used calipers to align the couplers and it was spot on side to side and top to bottom. Even the wear on the dampener is uniform across its horizontal surface. I am hoping I just have an old dampener but since I...
I need another option. I'm running an ET 967 coupled to a Torrent 148 using an ADA billet couplet set that uses kawi dampners. I'm using an oem kawi dampner that seemed to be in good shape but has shown a ton of wear in only 6 hours, allowing a bunch of movement from coupler to coupler. I either...
I was pointing this out to Joe and another buddy over the weekend and they were like, well, yea, that makes sense, why didn't we ever think of that? Lol. Great job! I am going to mod mine for sure.
I got one of my ski related winter projects done. After spending all weekend making this, I have a lot more respect for people that can sew! It is not easy to make flat fabric conform to a 3D object and have it look presentable when complete.
I had an SXR 800 cover on backorder for the last few...
I am convinced this is the case. Throw is just another way of saying how far you can move the cable in or out. The only thing that controls the amount of cable movement is the lever. I am going to see Joe on Saturday so I am going to try swapping levers to see what happens.
I am going to try swapping levers with my buddy but that is kind of a problem as he is a few hours away. I cannot take any more slack out of the cable or the resting position of the nozzle will increase.
The Odyssey lever is a mtb lever. Its the exact same one that JetManiac sells.
Yes, when...
I am hoping one of you on here can help me. I have a Thrust (non-pro) trim setup on my BAM with a bored Yamaha steering nozzle, Thrust cable, and an Odyssey brake lever. The issue I am having is that I don't seem to be getting as much throw as I should and I cannot determine if its the steering...
Finally got the engine to pull hard from idle to WOT. I backed my N/S down to a 1.8 with a black spring which netted me about 26 psi pop off. I still need to tune the needles and lean it out some but it pulls nice with no hesitation now! I doubled up on the check valves in the carbs but still...
Good tips. I will switch the fuel line over during the long winter.
A little update, after dealing with a bad stator at about 30 minutes ride time, I finally got the ski mostly dialed in. Initially, I had a terrible lean hesitation from idle to 1/4 where the ski would actually die if I went wot...
Rule pumps are the best. I recently had a blowsion rotary switch go bad and unknown to me the rule pump was running even with the switch in the off position. I didn't know until a week later I went to fire my ski and the battery was at 2.5 volts! Replaced the switch and charged the battery and...
I am two strokes for life, but carb'd ones are dirty. I ride a CR250 woods bike, own two Polaris Assault 800 sleds, and a handful of two stroke skis. Its unfortunate that my bike and skis don't have the same tech in the engines as my sleds do. My skis are simply dirty compared to that Polaris...
First ride report.
Ski started right up after getting the carbs primed. I floated it to check for leaks then took off. Seemed to run good and all cooling lines were flowing water but after only about 5 minutes it started acting up and finally died. I diagnosed that I was having a fuel delivery...
Below is the completed engine pic with the exception of the fuel lines. I had it routed as you see below with the black fuel line I got from my local True Value. This line ended up being a problem as even with zip ties on the barb fittings, the line was expanding and not staying tight. Lucky I...
I had to shorten some straps I had from various part outs to hold the fuel tank down. I tried the knot method and they were still too long. I cut the straps to length, wrapped the end back over itself, then used a long 3/16 rivet and backer to hold it together. Super solid and unless you look...
I actually finished the build this weekend but first a few more in progress pics.
I hate drilling into a hull, let alone a hand laid carbon one like this!
