been a while since the last update on this thing. I lost my mine trying to chase down a electrical problem. you might have see the other thread. that is fixed and was all because im stupid and hooked the wires up backwards. anyhow, everything this is finished down to putting the registration...
ITS RUNNING. two things were wrong. i had the two power lines from the box flipped. Meaning had the battery line going to the starter. Honestly other than that i dont know what i had going wrong. i tried so many different things i dont know what i did and didnt do right anymore. problem...
it will crank by doing this. I actually left the little black connected in the ebox ground and simple take the little brown and touch the hot post. The little black proves i have a good ground running from the ebox into the stator. Hopefully my buddy has a extra solenoid to try.
so your saying that there will always be hot wire running to the cdi and up ____. cant remember what other components it runs to. i thought it only was hot after it started to crank. i will definately try it though. thanks
that is what i thought. i swapped them at the end figuring that was it. wrong. when it wasnt the fix, i gave up. i guess ill go back through everything i tried before switching those wires and see what happens paired with all the recent recommendations.
great information. I will dry all this and get back to you
nothing. That was one of the first things i tried out.
it is not. This was hard wired in with the larger 6ga cable. It is not on the hot side that i could touch the brown to and get it to crank. I did try to swap the cables and...
yeah it may be that. lets back up. on a stock sj there are to power wires coming out of the top of the ebox (minus the heat sensor). describe what each one would look like and what they are to hook to. they both look similiar but one has that black heat protecting skin around it. its...
tried jumping the ground from the ebox to the engine. i guess that would mean a bad ground on the stator currect? stator is ground through the 2 screws that set the timing right? its not that. the real pain in all this is i cant find my meter.
its gone. in the box the battery comes in connects to a post. that post connects to another post which runs to the starter. also off those posts is a ground(black) and the brown wire that runs to start stop switch. touching the brown to the battery post cranks it. so that means its got to...
i would think that would do the same thing but i get nothing. now i cant find my volt meter to see if there is power on that red wire.
ebox is open and nothing looks loose our out of place.
the pink and small black wires were meant for the heat sensor. just trying to rule stuff out.
should i be able to take a wire and touch the brown and red inside of the harness that runs into the ebox and have it crank. doing so gets me nothing. only will crank by touching the brown to the battery.
is the red/brown wires for the start portion and the black/white for the stop. should there be consistent power coming from the red? so i would go up the red to the switch and return to the ebox from the brown??
