Round 2 - up next! BOYD LAKE STATE PARK, Loveland, CO - July 26-27!
This 2-part event is underway for the Summer of 2014. Trying to get the few CO riders together for a meet (well 2 actually!).
The details started to be discussed in this thread...
Who ported your engine? Why don't you ask them about your cases? You obviously don't appreciate the answers that you're receiving here. Maybe you should have them check your cases.
I'll add this too... If there were a "crush" spec for the cases, then they would only be able to be used once. And then tossed out. Similar to "torque-to-yield" fasteners.... whoops, talking over your head now... sorry.
You're just not getting this... Put your engine together and go for it or find a professional to do it for you. You're asking four-stroke questions on a very basic 2-stroke setup.
The answers were all given in your Plastigauge thread. There is NO CLEARANCE spec for the roller bearings! Period...
^^^^ what he said ^^^^
Great guy, he's a rider and enthusiast. He knows what skis/hulls weigh and how to get them shipped the right way and inexpensively!
It's definitely worth disputing, for whatever it's worth. $6-hundy is outrageous for shipping a hull. So if you can get anything back, you'll be a little better off.
For future reference: I recommend you use this guy - John Carter at Unishippers...
Back in the day, that setup was commonly referred to as a "Frankenstein". Popular as an inexpensive surf motor. Parts are plentiful and cheap and they run pretty good.

Yeah he's an OK guy I suppose :p
@Big Kahuna, all I would really need is the ID, and OD of the bearing stack. and the thickness of the stack. PM that to me if you have a set of calipers to measure it. Or if @parrdaddy can give us those specs? Then I'd say he's a GREAT guy! :D
Are you talking about the new ADA system, designed by rocket scientists? @parrdaddy I had to give him poop at 'Tona for making that system with the same damn style carbon steel thrust washers... His response: "I don't ride salt so they don't rust - you just keep them greased" o_O...
For racing you will likely want the higher pitches such as 16/21 16/22 16/23. BUT.... Too many variables to give you much of a recommendation. Engine setup, porting, etc.
As for the shaft, I recommend getting the right length one from @JetManiac
Agreed, 140 setback was the go-to pump for many years on race skis...
(and coincidentally, I have one for sale here: http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/mag-pumps-skat-solas-144-140.145010/ )
:D
^^^ Looks like it's sinking... good thing he sold it! ^^^^
And no worries Paulie - looks like everything worked out for all geese involved. Too bad you're behind the curve... the badass is so 2011... :D
Just in case you haven't heard already - ONLY USE EPOXY RESIN FOR THE REPAIR OF A SN. Since you were asking about "fiberglassing" techniques, I think it's highly important to emphasize that you must use the right resin for the job. Plain old "fiberglass resin" aka polyester resin WILL NOT WORK...
