I always use quart mix cups with the 5:1 ratio that west systems requires, I had similar adhesion issues with pro build brand resin, got it from a friend and I'm sure It had been below freezing in his garage. This is the rule of thumb as with paint, If it freezes its usually no good
I hear that, I have a superfreak that I picked up used last year. I prettied it all up with new paint and turf, now thinking about building a beater ski for surf. But it probably wouldn't ever get ridden. I think my answer may be, to put tubbies on my old RN that is now my wifes ski. Does the...
clean with acetone, it evaporates faster and is more compatible with epoxy resin, I believe it can be used to thin it also, not sure but its the best for pre cleaning!
tempuratures should stay at least 60 degrees after layup, I have had bonding and sanding issues with resins other than west...
Its been my experience, that a ported 701 cylinder has much better low end power over a 760 cylinder with the same porting. I know everyone says that a 760 can be better, but with extra work, decking the cylinder etc. I wouldn't waste my time on a 760.
Thanks for the nice comment everyone! Yes the front hold is the shizz, I am only about 5'8" also, seems that it would be a neccesity for a taller rider, in surf.
I didn't have a strap, I found my toes jambed against the front of the tray before, In surf stance. I really like the front hold! I almost don't notice that my foot is in it, my stance just feels rite now. I taperd my 25mm pad down to nothing just in front of it on the bottom, then two layers...
This is my -4.3 carbon Superfreak Badass. I got it used last summer and put it together looking pretty raggedy! I busted my arse to get it all fixed up for Daytona, It was well worth it! Anyway here is the list.
Ported 62t cases, ported 61x cylinder stock bore.
B pipe mod chamber, bored...
I assume you are talking about my buddys and I that parked on the opposite side of you? Last I knew asking someone if they mind moving their truck over a bit, and then saying thanks, wasn't considered being a prick. I don't have a certain ski to be better than anyone either!
Cool build, let us know how that brand of epoxy works out for you, I started using it on my rockerd SN and switched over to west system, this stuff would gum up when I tried to grind it down. It may have been out of date though, good luck with your build.
