How long have you been successful at this ? I'm going to try saltwater open sometimes using Boeshield T-9 waterproof lubricant developed by Boeing to protect electrical components in aircraft. It leaves a waxy film and sheds water extremely well.
Should be good then. I would check simple stuff first like voltage to starter under a load and add redundant grounds with jumper cables from battery to motor. @augustaf got any other ideas for him ?
Are your cables getting enough amps to the starter and what do you know about this starter ? Brushes in starter worn possibly? Your starting circuit seems to require max voltage/ amps to feed a deficiency in one of these two areas would be my guess. One other thing, Is this msd TL ?
Before you take ebox apart eliminate that it's a bad ground which can cause your issue. Take jumper cables and run negative leads from motor head bolt to negative battery and then try starting it. You can further check it by adding leads from ebox bolt to motor in addition to previous. Good...
If you don't grind off the bottom stringer it will act as a trim ring stop which will help prevent stretching of the trim cable (unless you weld on a makeshift stop). My reduction nozzle is bored to 90.35 mm and Thrust steering nozzle is bored to 93.35...XM trim.
Brake clean both shafts super clean, install midshaft assembly into hull, apply generous amount of JB weld on driveshaft before install. Make sure to use a very good shape impellar housing and new oem pump bearings because you will need to cut the driveshaft in half before you can remove pump...
There's a longer adjustable oem heim joint to extend the steering cable. A buddy believes it's on the GP760 and it's longer than yours pictured. You might also Google search heim joints and see what's available? How short are you with your regular length heim joint ?
Just for kicks I emailed Ed to ask this question, response pasted below.
The F/S 49mmv6 AVLR designates a special shape integrated in the carburetor
design. There are 4 styles of F/S 49mm at this moment. I discuss the clients intended build and custom build your carburetor setup accordingly...
Normal very slight dome movement in the head shell. This is why some builders use a thin layer of 1211 sealant where the domes meet the head shell, to help curtail movement and wear.
There should be a large washer between the case and bendix but that's not causing your issue. In the front cover there should be a washer on both sides of the spring, fyi. That 11 volts at the starter is not sufficient, check your cables and battery. My Deka 12 sits at 13 volts.
