I belive the stator is screwed to the top and bottom case halves. So you would have to remove that after the flywheel. One of mine was stuck pretty good. I sprayed it real good then left the puller tightened on over night. Came back the next moring and it broke free overnight.

Can a bad start/stop make a motor crank but not spark? Or do they both not go when the switch is broken?

I think blowsion or wamiltons has a kit to widen the rails. Its basically some denser underpad applied to the outside of the rails and then you turf over the existing rail and new padding. My buddy has them on his superjet and I have something like it on my XFT. It makes for quite a stable...
