Take air filters off and check carb butterflies are in sync and shafts aligned, grub screws tight. One may not be aligned / loose

Paul Lehr was great at getting piston kits and stuff shipped across to the UK for the 1105s

Are the ring locating pins still in place in the piston ?

Absolutely 100%, prevents water ”bouncing back” off the steering nozzle at large angles of deflection, and channels all available thrust in the direction wanted. I use a modified scream trim ring personally, but our group also use P&P and Pitch set ups to excellent effect.

I think it’s the algae in the water sending the sinuses into a sort of hay fever type overdrive

Personally fog my skis after every ride, regardless of whether it will be ridden next day or 6 months off, condensation can do a lot of damage on bare metal surfaces

try earth cable, and battery leads , connection to starter earth lead can be discounted by using a jump lead from battery to motor
