    What Hone?

i do different boring operations everyday haha. yes i can get concentricity with a 3 jaw chuck, its certainly not impossible. fortunately, we have a collet system at work so i dont use a 3 or 4 jaw chuck that often, nor is the lathe i use super large. However, lathes are not the end all be all...

    1995 Yamaha Superjet CUSTOM -SOLD-

I think you should either just keep the square or put a stock driveline in it and sell it at the price you have it listed for. As nice as a ski it is and all of the work you put into it, at the end of the day, it's still a square nose. I was only able to get 2300 bucks for my round nose hull...

    What Hone?

I am a machinist. Not one of my other machinist coworkers are anything like you're describing. Our shop is absolutely spotless. Obviously your machining knowledge is not nearly as good as you think. You have to be the first person I've heard of that suggests removing sleeves to bore the...

    When to Rebuild Your Engine?

Yes I'm aware haha. That's also why I run my oil mixture on the richer side. The pennzoil is cheap and available pretty much anywhere

    Blowsion 850 motor

The 850s use special sleeves and cr500 pistons. I believe the domes have to be custom machined because the tops of the pistons stick up above the deck height. I have a friend with that kit. Makes good power buy was a pita with all of the special machining involved. He had Erickson do the work.

    When to Rebuild Your Engine?

I run my skis at about 34-36 to one oil ratio using pennzoil semi synthetic oil for extra protection against moisture. Cheap insurance in my opinion

    When to Rebuild Your Engine?

With at least a 10x magnifying glass. Youll really be able to see any issues with the plugs that the naked eye can't detect. That's how I found a bad crank in an old 550 Reed engine I had. There were small pieces of metal on the plugs inside where the porcelain is. Would've never seen it without...

    When to Rebuild Your Engine?

im planning to do a "maintenance" teardown and inspection on my 735 after 3 years and probably 75+ hours. mainly to inspect the crank. still has same cranking compression psi it did after break in. just seen too many failed cranks after as hard as we ride. im also pushing 195 psi. i think...

Old Mariner FPP Kawi 650 Headpipe question

single cooling line for the engine should be sufficient. im actually just running a 735 thats fully ported with all of the supporting parts. i also have a x2 with a built 750 sp as well with a blaster limited chamber instead of the 750 chamber. i have dual cooling on it with 1 feeding the engine...

High revs, fuel issue - riva powerbomb, xs900rr

its always a good idea to prime the engine before first start up especially if the carbs have no fuel in them. hold your hand over each carb and crank the engine over while pressing the stop button so the engine wont start. do that for both carbs before trying to start for the first time. if you...

Old Mariner FPP Kawi 650 Headpipe question

I set all of my skis up with separate lines to the engine and headpipe for that very reason. Makes it easier to control the pipe temps. If you're not getting the pipe hot enough, you can run a restrictor in your outlet off of the headpipe. I have my screws on the headpipe as follows: top screw...

Old Mariner FPP Kawi 650 Headpipe question

Just make sure you have at least one screw injecting water otherwise the pipe will over heat and you'll dramatically loose power. Hotter pipe will make more rpm and power up top, cooler pipe will make better bottom but less rpm. Plugging that hole will allow you to dry the pipe out more so...

Old Mariner FPP Kawi 650 Headpipe question

yes, the older gen mariner fp headpipes had an injection hole on the bottom that was not adjustable. you can weld it up or use some high temp epoxy putty and fill the hole in. i had a 550 headpipe like that and i filled the hole in with high temp epoxy putty with no issues.

    What Hone?

i believe the best option to boring a cylinder would be with the sleeves installed and a plate bolted to the cylinder to keep the deck square so the bores come out true.

    What Hone?

Also remember, the more you hone out on your cylinder, the larger the piston clearance will be which increases chance of breaking a sleeve or a piston and doing more extensive damage. You'll get a season or two out of it with the stock head on it but once you start adding more compression and...
