About 3 inches shorter and a few pounds lighter isn't significant in my book. Especially when it's not even touching the water at speed. More difference can be seen between a full and empty tank of fuel.
What ride plate/intake grate setups? On plane, my SJ is only in the water from about mid hull back, nowhere near where I added the additional rocker. Carter B kit by the way. Rocker starts kicking in from the fuel tank forward.
Currently, I'm running a Worx 205 grate and flush cut stock ride plate. Previously, I ran a d-cut stock plate and an r&d grate. No issues with either setup but then again, I'm stock length hull at the rear.
Rocker shouldn't have anything to with the porpoising at speed, it's not even in the water at that point. The -2 at the rear is the culprit. You're just gonna have to play with body position and some intake grate/ride plate combos to get it where you want. My SJ didn't porpoise before or...
WPS battery here too. Going on my 3rd season. Stayed hooked up all winter in storage and never skipped a beat. Never had to charge it. The blue has faded almost white and the charge indicator quit working sometime last year but it cranks strong and weighs next to nothing.
You're speculation is correct Vumad. From what I've noticed on my ski, the chine walk exists at slow speeds due to the narrow rear end and the bondrail being deeper in the water. When I relief cut the rear bondrail, it solved about 90% of the slow/moderate speed chine walk. The last 10% that...
I've done a lot to get my '10 to handle the way I want it to.
Had the weird chine walk too. Cut reliefs in the rear bond rail to let water flow freely out the back, helps a lot. I ride mostly surf so I did a lot to make the ski slide easier instead of hook. Got it so it'll slide easy but...
I can roll my SJ all day. I admit I never came fully around on a flip, but I'm definitely not scared to try. It's just not how I prefer to ride.
There's quite a few guys I ride with that have a/m hulls that don't flip or roll but can surf ride better than most guys I have seen.
It's whatever...
Not everyone cares to flip or roll. A/M hulls can be very beneficial depending on your style of riding, especially in the surf. Rocker, length, weight, strength, adjustability are all important features compared to a SJ.
Ended up doing 12oz biax with a layer of 6oz s-glass on top to help with fairing and smoothing things out. Worked out pretty well. Also did the white pigment which looks good but was hard to make sure the glass was fully wet out and to find any air bubbles.
Yeah the 12oz biax was my first guess. I don't expect paint to last doing what I do with the ski, I just suck when it comes to paint and my last paint job could be scratched off with your finger nail haha. My uncle suggested Awlgrip primer/paint. He uses it on fiberglass boats. Anyone know...
So the time has come for me to stop procrastinating and get my ski ready for this season. I glassed in a Carter B rocker kit onto my '10 SJ last winter and it has taken quite a beating. Has a few stress cracks on the outside and my paint job didn't hold up too well.
My plan is to dig out the...
