I think they were asking if the "sponsons" are part of the hull mold or added after it's pulled from the mold. they look to be part of the mold. I doublt the hull is thicker there. It may be stornger there though.

I don't think so. it's much smaller and has a positive draft for pulling out of a hull mold.

I may be wrong, but I heard a while back that JD from Blowsion was riding one of the new Superjets. This tells me that he had a hand in designing the new hull. Again, I didn't get this straight from the horse's mouth, but those sponsons look IDENTICAL to tubbies molded on. Coincidence?

Well I just got back today from the 2008 premier and all I can say is wow. The new superjet is awesome. I know it looks the same but it is nothing like the old one handling wise. It now feels like a small light sxr. Everything that is good about a superjet with the carving ability of an sxr. It also actually hooks up in the chop. Wider out front , longer plate and setback pump, ss impeller and sharper, deeper chines . If you look at it from the back it looks like the bottom of an sxr. I will have pictures posted in a few.

Hypothetically – If the new 1800cc engine in the new FX SHO proofs itself, they cut it in half and use it in the Superjet. 2-cyl, 900 cc, supercharged and 120HP.
Just a thought.
