How come MSD TL doesnt have a charging system built in like oem?? Is it really that difficult to add? Wish something would be done about this...

Uh, because it's total loss. :clown:

The very definition of total loss is the absence of a power-robbing charging system.

TL - programmable, doesn't charge the battery, much lighter flywheel - POWER

Enhancer - not programmable, charges battery, uses standard charging flywheel (heavy) - barely any better than stock.

2 weeks of use and I had my first problems yesterday. I went to start and 'kla-klunk', wouldn't turn over. Sanoman was on his way over to ride so I put a 1.5a charger on it for about 15min. Got it started and rode for about 30 min. Didn't have any problems firing back up after a fall but after I stopped to talk to a friend for 10min or so it was weak and wouldn't turn over again. A boat passing by thankfully had a boost pack. Gotta love holding a ski with the hood off, in the middle of the lake while standing on the swim platform, trying to hook up cables, start the ski and keep it running while trying to put the hood and straps back on. The guy's boat was spinning in circles as we held my ski on the back.. kinda funny for the audience I'm sure.
Maybe I just have a slow draw somewhere in my electrical system. Maybe the battery is laying down. I put it on a 1.5a charger until it read 14v and it appears to be holding on the bench. I'll try it again this week. Makes me a bit nervous as I ride by myself most of the time.

I'm still running just the one 16 cell out the two that I was sent. I never run it for more than 2 hours before recharging.
But that's with TL and two 500gph bilges running at all times.

The shorai I bought from Matt last year conked out, called shorai, they emailed me yesterday saying they were sending out a replacement. Got it today with a shipping label to return this one. I left out the part about total loss and jetski's tho.lol

I forgot!
Yeah that was my experience for my warranty claim. So far on my initial investment I am on my second season with and I have yet to be unable to ride because of the shoria. When this replacement one dies I may try out the anti gravity 12 cell. They are for watercrafts and 3 year warranty.

Has anyone been breaking cells? I've shattered the cells in two batterys now. They warranted them no problem, but after after two backflip attempts the battery's were toast. I haven't broke the new ones yet so maybe it was a bad batch.

I want to cut these things open to see inside them. Do you guys know if it's safe to cut into them with a little air saw?

After one battery blowing a hole in the underside and one battery with a dead cell, I've since been removing my 3rd battery completely after each day and leaving it out until I ride next. I also balance the battery after each weekends worth of runs. Not to mention I put dielectric grease in the 5 pin connector to rule out any shorts that may happen from a little water leakage inside the rubber boot. Much better luck now. Other two were warrantied and are on their way.

The charger does use the balance connector.

What charger do you have? Mine uses the balance connector
