Boyer,
You ever run a TDR waterbox? I was wondering if the ATP is any more or less noisy than one of those. I run an TDR and it's loud.

Never have, i have always stuck with OEM till now. I was thinking about picking up an X-Scream one at Daytona and giving that a try as well. I love the tone of the ATP way better than OEM but worry that it's too loud for certain riding spots.

On a scale of one to ten, if the oem is a 5 then the ATP is only a 5.5.

Well, I stripped my hull down tonight after work. It's hard to believe that it took less than an hour to pull it all down.

We are doing a marathon 850 mile run down to Palm Bay on saturday to drop it off at Trinity for Bobby to cut 3" off the rear. He's gonna fit it in between steps in other builds so hopefully I have it back within a month or two. I will use the downtime to go over all the components and make sure things are all stil good. Few things I noticed already is that my trim cable is rotting out and my midshaft needs a new bearing and seal so it will be well worth the effort in many ways and go a long way to a pain free riding season. I have always said that for the short time it takes to break down a ski to bare components, it should be a once a year project for everyone.

I can't wait to ride this thing at -3". Scott's is so responsive at -2" so I am going a bit extra to try and offset the extra hookup I get from the Mag pump.

UH, why not just have let Bobby take it back with him from Daytona?

I am taking my pump down to Scott this weekend. He is going to run it until i get my hull back. I'm hoping to hook up with him in the next couple weekends for a day of test riding so we can see the difference and i can maybe adjust my thinking before Bobby gets to far on it.

I am going to ride my wifes 07 SJ for a few weekends and test out the 140 mag pump I just put in it. : headbang:

Yes, that would have worked much better but for one, he left on sat and we rode sunday again plus the idea to chop really didn't enter my head till about halfway back during my 6 hr drive home and didn't gel into a commitment till around wednesday after much thought and discussion with guys who rode our skis back to back.

Its only a 14 hour round trip, not a pound of flesh or anything. :bigok:

Give me a break, Boyer! Your pristine ski parts look better coming apart than many/most new builds going together!

Freshen up your tired ski LOL!

Wuss. :lmao:

J/K. I know why you're going only -2. I know that on a SJ, the difference between stock length and -2 is HUGE.

I hope you are right Matt, I know -3" on WAB's SN was almost too much but the Matrix is so much wider and stable than a SJ in the first place I don't think it would have been too much on a Matrix anyways. I offered to go up to the -4" but Bobby figured it would be even more difficult to accomplish. Between the exhaust outlet, Versiplug drain location and different body contours the -2" will be much stronger than -3" and way easier to get sealed up again afterwards. Normally a job like this would be done with the footholds out so you could get to the inside but since this is the only cut on the boat, it is a more difficult task to complete the job all from the outside and guarantee that it is sealed up again afterwards. After 7 months of riding my hull is still bone dry inside and we would like it to stay that way.

I think you'll like it a lot. Shortening my RN hull was the best handling mod I ever did to it. For both surf and flatwater

I would be more than happy with the way Scott's ski handled so I'm still happy. Let others experiment with the bigger cuts.

D-Roc

I forgot!
it blew my mind at how much better and fun a short hull is compared to one that is only 2"-3" longer. one ride on my buddies and i hacked my hull. doing the hack completly from the outside is more challenging but we have done it with success, and if you got trinity to do it, you know its going to be seemlessly done.

Very nice! Good choice on the drain, too.

When can we expect a ride report?

More importantly, when can we expect pictures of a certain SN mid-section?
