DIY Total loss or MSD TL upgrade box 270USD?

I checked my older pdcs-o2t and it draws 2 ma at idle. I've also checked the current pdcs-ao2t and it would jump to 20 ma then drop to 2 ma. It was the original zeel that would consistently draw around 90 ma and drain batteries.

Is anyone aware of a flywheel cover that will fit the 701 crankcase that accepts the 64x stator that attaches to the flywheel cover? I hate my old cover that doesn't align just right with the 701 crank case currently used with my Zeel setup.

Not sure what you're referring to... 61x, 62t, 64x covers are all interchangeable. Same bolt and dowel pattern.

The bottom right bolt on the flywheel cover doesn't line up. I was assuming this was everyone's experience when attaching a 760 front cover to a 701 crankcase?

Literally the same cases between 701 and 760
I'm not sure why but mine doesn't, and I remember reading on here that other had the same experience. Not sure what I've done wrong...

Anyway.. Does anyone make an aftermarket flywheel cover that accepts the pickup from the 760 electronics? I'd love some colors to match the rest of my build.

Nope.... I think a few were looking at doing this. Never happened I do not believe.

So I’m installing my A02T and have a little confusion. From my 64x front cover I have a blue and brown wire that goes to nothing??? And I have a grey wire front the zeel, where does that go?

Is the new zeeltronic for the 701 62t plug and play as the 760? And does it come with the waxhead map already installed stock?

Grey wire from the zeel is a tachometer signal, most people don't use it for anything. The blue and brown wires were used by the oem cdi but are not used by the zeel.

So is there a big difference in power or spark or timing with the 62t version? I just picked up the the aot2 and just seeing. Other then the flywheel size would it be beneficial to grab the 62t?

The timing is programable with either model so there is no difference there.

Any other performance advantages between the two would be pretty academic.

In practical terms the advantage of the 62t version is that most people already have 62t electronics so they don't have to swap out their electronics. The advantage of the 64x version is that you can knock out the magnets and run it as a total loss with a lighter flywheel (the 62t version requires leaving the magnets in the flywheel).

The new Y62T does have some internal improvement's over the A02T. I have been trying to do some apples to apples comparison. This is proving difficult. The Y62T seems like its better? However, the Flywheel options of the Y62T is making it better. The A02T set up charging runs much better then when its run as TL. So right off the bat, even a std 62t flywheel is lighter. The benefit's just increase from there.

But that being said about the flywheel, you can still run a jetnetic flywheel or any other on the market that has been redesigned and lighter.

So that being said have the 62t for freestyle with a aftermarket flywheel mag be better just for rotating mass??

I picked up two flywheels for my aot2 charging and tl, I want to run them back to back and see the difference. I’ve heard running charging is much better (hotter spark, charged battery) but having the tl version, it’s significantly lighter

That's interesting. What sort of differences are you seeing in how they run with charging vs total loss?

I can't think of any reason why it would matter (other than the obvious lower flywheel inertia) but sometimes these things are unexpected I guess.

Both Zeel versions pull a portion of there energy off the charging side of the circuitry when run as TL, its only as good as the battery powering it. And looses energy, the longer its run. Not the case with charging. I proved it on my personal boat some time ago while running the A02T on TL. Went to go on a surf trip and just changed to a lightened charging flywheel. Lost my tune? Was lean. Swapped back to TL flywheel, all was good. Went back to charging, and rejetted. Ran much better than with the TL! Of course, I could tell the difference in Flywheel weight, but that was it.
this past Daytona, I delivered a new TPE 1105 build to a client. It ran a Y62T with Jetinetics flywheel. Boat is extremely Flatwater capable! Have setup several others now the same. All Run very good! Please know, this is Not yet a replacement for MSD TL. However, getting closer all the time. Im learning and getting better with my tunes.
this is where Im finding big gains
