DIY Total loss or MSD TL upgrade box 270USD?

No, you don't need the 64X box. I notched, then filed a notch in the plastic mounting base of the Zeel. In the pic- you see it is being retained on the right by that notch pushing against the housing back , on the left- it pushes against the solenoid rubber. The bottom rests flush against the housing and the top is being retained by the stock wiring bracket. So that it doesn't get squeezed to tightly, I inserted a 6mm fiber washer (not visible) between this bracket and the aluminum base. The Zeel is held firmly , does not jiggle around. I actually prefer this over using the 64X rubber retainer- I like to see the unit have at least some heat exchange (touching the base), rather than insulating it in a rubber surround.
I also prefer the 64X coil- it has resistance wires- Borut had mentioned to use resistor plugs, he probably knows something, after all he's from the same neck of the woods as Nicola Tesla...

Jetmaniac’s been bugging me to do it for over a year now.

JSTL tried to get me to do it over 2 years ago but he got impatient and I shipped him all the OEM blanks I had so I could never make the molds.

I bought 4 or 5 a years or so ago. I had a buddy asking for them but when I searched it was unavailable everywhere. I only have a couple left

I shipped off a bag of the blank grommets to Jetmaniac and plan to keep him stocked up going forward.

If anyone has any new or minty condition OEM blanks, I would be very interested in making a deal for 4 or 5 so I have some nice clean blanks for making future molds.

The molds pick up every little blemish and while these are 100% functional, my OCD says they can be better.
