Food plan - Covered as of 3-11-08, thanks all!

Just plain me....
You're not really proposing that we stick SteveOwe with the entire cost of the piggy, are you? I don't remember him saying that he was getting the pig free, just probably getting it at cost.

I'd be good with doing either pig or burgers Sat pm. I definitely want to keep it as simple as possible (seems like this is getting too compicated). Just seemed like peeps were looking forward to all 3.

OK, so should we vote for piggy or burgers, then? Feedback, which would y'all rather do?
NO....I meant not spend the kitty on burgers if there is going to be pig. I wouldn't expect ANY ONE person to foot the cost of anything. And you're right...it is getting too complicated. That's why I suggested that you make an executive decision over the weekend.

That makes perfect sense to me. I guess I just took your post wrong. Didn't seem like something you would mean. :flowers1:

I would be very happy with Sat am Neilcakes and Sat pm roast piggy if that's what folks want. Everybody could bring pretty much the same things they've already signed up for with the addition of BBQ sauce (unless that comes with the piggy - SteveOwe, fill us in on some details, please. What else do you need to make it a complete dinner? Rolls, maybe? What else?).

Time to update your first post yet Ducky? (in case somebody doesnt want to read 7+ pages )

Sounds like cakes Sat. morning... burgers or pork Sat. nite - TBD

Preparing any more meals than that sounds like too much work... this is a freeride, not a 24 hour buffet! hahahahaha!!! :laugh2:

:fing02:Exactly

This is the only ride that I know of that tries to have more than one meal. Dayonta & SFF have a meal, but it is catered & handled by a sponsoring company, not the riders.

Yeah, I'm waiting for folks to have a little more time to give us input on burgers vs piggy. I'll do some updating, then when more peeps have had time to chime in, I'll make it a final.

Hi Steveowe, thanks for the offer of the pork. I think that if we break it up into volunteer work then who would be overworked. Neil has Saturday AM believe I heard Becky, Stacey and others chime in on burgers and Steveowe has put the pig out there. I personally am willing to help with 1of the meals, whichever one is needing. If people are willing to GIVE of their time then let's allow them and jump in and help. We all will have to eat during the weekend, might as well have fun and fellowship in doing so. That's my $.02 (even if it's only worth half that.)

The pig comes pre-roasted, chopped into smaller pieces. It can be served with the same side dishes as burgers, and would have alot less prep time. Place in oven and re-heat. This pig doesnt need a BBQ sauce at all. It takes about 24 hours of prep work prior to roasting, and has a juicy soft meat with a crisp outer layer.

Depending on headcount, maybe we should do some of both. Less prep time on burgers, and we can feed a larger group faster.

I vote for both! Some may not do pig - but love burgers! I am sure the pig should be good - but having family in Hawaii for 20 yrs and yes there where more then a few roasted pigs that did not come out as you would think!

I know the pig is a store bought one but just thought 2 voice my past experiences!

Can't go wrong with burgers!

I'm getting the drift that folks want pig AND burgers for Sat pm? If it's just a matter of heating up the piggy, I'm all good with that since they can go on the same buns, go with the same sides, etc. So unless SteveOwe tells me otherwise, here's the plan.

Neilcakes Sat am, roast pig (kosher of course, does it come any other way?) and burgers Sat pm. We better have lots of helping hands for Sat pm is all I got to say.

I'll go edit first post, now.

I'll bring lettuce and tomatoes for Sat. night.

How many do you think we need?

Thank you. I expect we'll need at least 3-4 heads of leaf lettuce and maybe a couple dozen tomatoes depending on size. You might ask Stacey how many she got last year fall (or whoever brought them last year) and go from there. I expect to have more people show this March than last Sep. We had around 50 then with around 30 confirmed before hand. We have at least 50 confirmed so far, so around 70ish? (I think.) If at least 75% want tomato and average 4-5 slices per tomato, we need at least a dozen as rock bottom number of tomatoes and better to allow for extra.
