Ladies and gentlemen, as of 8:00 this morning, I can officially say this boat RIPS! I only had it on the water for about 10 minutes. My pivot bolt for my turn nozzle rubs on my turnplate, so I couldn't pull my trim for set-up wakes. :banghead: It didn't matter though. This hull spins so fast, I don't need much of a wake! I spun 3 rolls, and got them all around to the rideplate.:headbang: I have done no tuning on this thing. The pipe and carbs are set up the same way they were on my stock stroke Lamey. The MSD is set to Paul's recommendation. It just pops outta the water! The shortened hull is amazing. I can see why people say once you go shortened hull, you never go back.

Since this boat is nowhere near legal, I got off the water as soon as I could. I need to get down to the Secretary of State and get a HIN for it. Then I can register it and get some MC numbers. I think that will work out OK, because when I put it back on the trailer and ran it, I found it had an air leak. So, now I get to go find that sucker...:frown::28::12:

The air leak doesn't bother me, because that 10 minutes on the water with THAT kind of power was AWESOME!

I LOVE THIS BOAT!

How do you know how much horsepower you have?

Charles

Because it feels HUGE! :arms:
Actually, I'm only estimating. My combo is the same as the set up Paul (LPW) and Pat (IKSTEJ) have run in the past. I have porting done by Gary Lamb, however, the specs are not terribly different than what Paul did on his motor. Both of those gentlemen had PV motors, and they were in the 180HP range. If I ever get a chance, I'd love to toss this thing on a dyno. I know that after this morining, a nosed in flatwater backflip is no longer unachievable. :hail:

This is from another thread.

I hope freestylegeek is not reading this. He's running an 8mm stroke/81mm bore combo. He says he thinks it's making 160 horsepower based on comparison to Paul's 180/190/210 horsepower motors. Interesting.

Charles

I am indeed reading this Charles, and I totally agree with Chuckie. I'm hoping you didn't think my 8mm stroker is using the same cylinder as my stock stroke Lamey did. That motor was an 85mm bore, this motor is an 81mm bore. I bought this motor as a complete 8mm stroker, and reasembled it as the same. It had a 0.020" copper gasket, and I put a 0.020" OEM gasket in there during re-assembly. I got new cases, and ported them according to Pauls new specs. I mearly relieved the domes to drop the compression from 220 to 190. I could be COMPLETELY wrong about the HP that this motor has. In comparison to Paul (8mm x 81mm PV) and Pats (5mm x 88mm PV) boats, it's right in there.

Let me know if I'm coming across as a jerk who thinks he knows everything.

Well, it looks like I may have caused a stir with my claims of 160 hp from this motor. So, I will officially say I do not know how much horsepower this motor has. I know it has more than my stock stroke Lamey did, and that had more than my 62t/61x motor did.

This motor revs up extremely quickly, and the boat accelerates extremely quickly, and I get happy extremely quickly. If I can nose in a flat water backflip this year, than this motor has just the right amount of horsepower.

Right now the engine compartment is functional. I need to clean up the wiring, and do something a little different with water lines. I also need to wire in a power switch for the MSD instead of using the bullet connectors. Right now I don't care - I just want to RIDE!!

Make sure (absolutely sure!) your wiring is clean, your insulation is where it's supposed to be, all your crimped connections are clean, preferably soldered, and have heatshrink.

exactly... numbers are sh*t... when you nose one in no one will be caring about exact dyno numbers...
