The pump is in and all hooked up.
The pole is on and the tightening nuts are loctited and drying.
The locknuts will go on tomorow night.
The trim, throttle, and steering cables are all in and adjusted.

Pictures will be posted in the morning.

I can't believe I'm actually going to get this thing done!!

OK, so this is the 4th Xmetalworks pole I've installed, and Patrick has things figured out!! The steering cable hole at the top of the pole is drilled a tiny bit bigger than before, so the cable pops right through. The pivot bolts and bushings are the perfect size now, so you don't have to thread them through. I love this pole!:arms:

Now, because I moved the pivot bracket as far forward as possible, I had to cut 2" out of my nosepiece. I didn't realize just how tight it was going to be around the pivot bolts. I knew I had to run them "nuts in", but even that way the outside edge of the bolt head still hit the nosepiece. So I had to grind a little away. It's tight, but I think it looks OK.

The steering cable relocation takes care of all the problems associated with trim, but it creates some new ones. Since I'm now running the attachment ball pointing up, it bound in the retainer barrel. I had to bend my nozzle bracket so that I could pull full trim. Not a huge deal, but one more of those little things.

Today I'll install the locknuts on the pivot bolts, the chinpad, and the rideplate. I also need to find some sort of spacer/pad for the handlepole that goes on the hood. I need 2-1/2" in order for the throttle and trim levers not to hit the hood . Any suggestions as to where I should look? I'm planning on hitting the local hardware stores and seeing what is available.

I am soooooooo close!

Have any turf and foam left? You can make one by layering the turf and foam.

The plate is on, and the pivot bolt locknuts are cranked down.

Unless you absolutly have to, do not EVER mount your dual pivot bolts with the nuts on the inside!!!!! :banghead:

Have you seen one of Joe Kenny's boats.........he has about 6in of those pads on his hood. Looks like crap but if thats what it takes.

2 or 3 layers of 25mm padding then wrap the sides with turf and then a piece of turf on top. looks clean and the turf on its side does a great job of stiffening the shock pad.

Have you been watching me through my garage window?
I've got the padding sanded up, and cut the turf.
I'll be gluing this evening.
