Instead of starting a new thread, I figured most of the Freedom Fighters were on this thread.

Please read and consider this.

I sent this to my entire email contact list and hope that you would do the same. This post may be a bit long but I believe it's very important, so please check it out. Thanks.

Hello,

In light of the recent shootings by the crazy monsters in our society, it has created much discussion about the 2nd Amendment, gun rights & control, gun and magazine bans and potentially violating/attacking your freedom and liberty. I have prepared the below letter and sent it to my Congressman and Senators. I hope you will contact your elected official also (see the below websites to find them per your zip code) and send a similar letter. You can copy and paste my text below if you want (add your name under sincerely) or use it as reference.

Remember, evil will flourish, when good men do nothing. I believe the government is getting out of control. It's size is growing and growing. It is true that a large government creates small citizens. They are succeeding is control every aspect of our life and I fear they can use these tragic shootings and exploit our emotions and control our only and last means of protecting ourselves from the bad man and them.

Please, look over my letter below and truly consider taking a few minutes to send yours, ASAP.

We have to be vocal, no matter what the issue.

Please, pass this on to your contact whether you take action or not.

This needs to circulated and acted upon fast because the Obama Administration is moving fast on this topic. They wanna come up with some sort of decision with a deadline of January 2013.

Thanks, Steve

Hello,

In light of the very sickening and tragic shooting in the Connecticut school, I am writing to you to express my opinion in hopes it will be heard and recognized. Our goal is to do something which will curb or stop the senseless murders. I believe that the blame and actions our government may take will be focused on the wrong culprit. Focusing on the weapon, an inanimate object makes no sense. Man has murdered using numerous means very effectively in the past. Adam Lanza could have easily thrown a few homemade bombs in those classrooms and accomplished the same terrible results. People create the mayhem and destruction, not the items they choose to use. They are the thinking and acting person that follows through with whatever evil that resides in their heart and mind, so it is not the guns!

My concern is with this highly politicized Gun topic and the negative, untruthful, propagandized, Anti-Gun Movement/Media, is that our Gun Rights and the 2nd Amendment will be dismantled one regulation at a time. I fear that my freedom of using my guns to defend myself from evil and my freedom to use any gun for sport and hunting will be violated. I fear my CPL right may be in jeopardy too. Please do not ban any specific weapon (AR15), category, model, magazine (30 round), part or accessory. To vilify one specific gun or magazine makes no sense and takes focus off the real reasons and answers. It also gives potentially dubious power to those who instate that law/decision to vilify and ban the next gun and the next. A very slippery slope.

In my mind the issue and solution is found in the individual person and being personally responsible for his actions. Our morally declining culture, the mental health issue, the medications, our ‘We don’t need God’ mentality, our legal system and prison sentencing, etc., all weigh in on why things like this happen and need to be highly considered for the steps to curb tragic occurrences from happening. I also support having police and/or trained concealed teachers at the schools.

Man is either good or bad. He shows love or hate. He can defend/support life or he can maliciously take it away. The object that the bad man uses to carry out evil should not be on trial or banned, whether it’s a pillow, ax, knife, baseball bat, gun or the ingredients to create a homemade bomb. It’s the man. It’s the continual downward spiral in our society that truly needs to be heavily considered.

Please, keep our freedom and liberty, our 2nd Amendment and Gun Rights fully intact. No matter what you ban or make illegal, will only affect the good, peaceable, law abiding man. The evil doer or criminal will always find the means to carry out his evil plans.

Sincerely,

A Justice Department study found the Assault Weapons Ban was responsible for a 6.7 percent decline in total gun murders. However, since the 2004 expiration of the bill, assault weapons have been used in at least 459 incidents, resulting in 385 deaths and 455 injuries.

385 deaths and 455 injuries in 8 almost 9 years? Dont these dix have anything better to worry about?

More info on that figure of 6.7 percent

On her website, Feinstein claims that a study for the DOJ found that the 1994 ban resulted in a 6.7 percent decrease in murders. To the contrary, this is what the study said: “At best, the assault weapons ban can have only a limited effect on total gun murders, because the banned weapons and magazines were never involved in more than a modest fraction of all gun murders. Our best estimate is that the ban contributed to a 6.7 percent decrease in total gun murders between 1994 and 1995. . . . However, with only one year of post-ban data, we cannot rule out the possibility that this decrease reflects chance year-to-year variation rather than a true effect of the ban. Nor can we rule out effects of other features of the 1994 Crime Act or a host of state and local initiatives that took place simultaneously.”

I believe feinstein herself carries a gun wonder how she'd feel about giving up her right to carry a weapon
Should make her feel safer right?

These idiot elitists push these bullchit laws that never applies to them.

I'm extremely concerned about the direction this country is going with these fools in charge.

I'm starting to think these individuals are knowingly wanting to dismantle it all (freedom & liberty) and have complete control.

well a lefty normally has the saftey and charging handle/bolt on the left side instead of the right. so yes it would make a slight difference to you. I know some people who are leftys and cant even shoot a normal gun at all it just feels uncomfortable. If you can shoot a righty gun no problem then dont pay the extra $$

Funny thing about her statistics and research is that it is mostly from the same two people at the same university. I prefer a more diverse pool of statistics before I buy into their BS. Pretty classy lady to use this tragedy to finally push her wacky agenda, but then again a liberal politican would never let a good tragedy go to waste. Pretty sure this bill will die a quick death in Congress. Only time will tell.
