Hand guns

Its illegal as hell but I just wanted to know if it actually works. 17hmr is a nasty little round too. 2500 feet per second nothing left of the poor squirrel once you hit. Him with that

Just did my paperwork for my first supressor today! Cant wait until squirrel season. They won't even know what hit em!

On that .17 it is still going to be loud. :( Need to get something that shoots subsonic rounds like the 458 Socom and 500gr bullets going 800fps. :AR15firing:

I'm pretty sure a homemade silencer is illegal. And that is a federal law

Incorrect. It is legal to manufacture your own suppressor. You must file your type 2 tax stamp paperwork with the ATF with intent to manufacture. Once approved you make it,mark it with serial #'s etc. Its all online but is a real hassle, might as well just buy one. You are correct in the sense that if you are found in possesion of an unregistered (so they know who has what) suppressor it will be no bueno for you.

Ya I was being vague. I was talking about being in possession of one.

^^^^ Understood. Also,it is not always disclosed upon purchase and acceptance of Class 2 or 3 firearms that the "tax stamp" must be with the item at all times. If you have a suppressed select fire SBR you have to have all 3 tax stamps with the firearm. You guys have fun, suppressed is definately the way to go for shooting.

Its for my .22 pistols and my squirrel rifle. Subsonic ammo or .22 shorts and its way quiet. That 458 socom is a wild round too pricey for me to shoot

All of mine were signed by local Sheriff (not all of them are cool about it and it can also vary day to day lol). Can be done thru trust by forming an LLC contact an attorney and proceed. Its sad how suppressors have been villified. They make any firearm much more enjoyable to fire, and quality ones will improve accuracy. If ya aint got one youre missing out.

I went to the sheriffs office and got fingerprinted and left the paperwork to be signed off on. I didn't know you could start a trust and do it that way

mxmark-not sure if it has come up but food for thought. Alot of manufacturers condone firing .22LR in their 5.56 (.223REM) suppressors. Price isnt much more but flexibility is. Just a thought. I like YHM,Surefire,Gem-Tech.

Lol... Texas is pretty awesome, hot but awesome. Wife and I discussed moving but every place we want to live is overwhelmed by the other political party.

Gemtech alpine is what I should have gotten its rated for , 17hmr.22lr and .22 mag. I looked at a .223 supressor too but they were a bit out of my budget. Once I get my form 4 back from the sheriff and send in all the paperwork to the atf they will let me shoot it anytime at their gun range until its all approved and I get to take it home.

You need a sot license to do ththis if u make a suppressor then submit it w paperwork and serial you are going to get a bill from the ATF for 2500 bucks..that's what the sot costs

Q: How does an individual obtain authorization to make an NFA firearm?Prior to making a firearm, the individual must submit ATF Form 1 (5320.1), Application to Make and Register a Firearm, to the Bureau of ATF, NFA Branch, and receive approval. The applicant must follow the procedures described in the question “What are the required transfer procedures for an individual who is not qualified as a manufacturer, importer, or dealer of NFA firearms?” concerning photographs, fingerprints and certifications. The applicant must forward the original and a duplicate of the form along with a check or money order for $200 made payable to the Bureau of ATF, National Firearms Act Branch, P.O. Box 530298, Atlanta, GA 30353-0298. If the application is approved, the original of the form with the cancelled stamp affixed showing approval will be returned to the applicant. If the application is denied, the tax will be refunded.
Applications to make a firearm will not be approved if Federal, State, or local law prohibits possession of the firearm.
[26 U.S.C. 5822, 27 CFR 479.61-65] IDOK I was referring to this since a supressor is considered a "firearm" by our govt. If I am incorrect I apologize for bad info. Give it a read. If you read my post I stated you must file first, manufacture second. I was incorrect on the form type though. Above is the correct form.

Picked up a nice little stash gun this morning. Makarov military issue FEG PA-36 (9x18). It's about the same size and configuration as the Ruger LC9 that I was looking at but it has an alloy frame and is a much better gun. Paid $225 for gun and 100 rounds.

The guy had over 20 rifles and almost as many handguns so it took quite a while to go thru all his guns. He's looking to sell everything except a few of his favourites. I tried to talk him out of an ATI C92 9mm but he wouldn't part with it... Yet! One of the best guns to handle and hold to date and he assures me it shoots just as smooth. It's a Beretta knockoff and uses all the same parts at a fraction of the cost. I was very impressed with the gun and will get to shoot it in the next couple weeks. Very likely I will go this route over the Sig P226 now. The reviews are great on the gun and it's in the $300 dollar range.

you know thats not standard 9mm, correct?
Yup. I don't plan to shoot this much, maybe put a couple mags thru it, clean it and oil it and put it somewhere easy to reach. 2 boxes of ammo should be more than enough for a couple years. At first I was worried about mixing up the ammo but the ammo I got with it is an aluminum color and very clearly different from my standard 9mm.

Have you had a chance to shoot the ATI C92?

Been watching Walmart online for ammo inventory the last few weeks and managed to score 6 - 225 round boxes of 22LR ammo this morning. They have a 3 box limit so it was good I went with a friend that could get me 3 more. We went for breakfast and then went back but they wouldn't sell us any more. My buddy scored 3 1000 round boxes of 22LR last week but they haven't brought any more in since.
