Hand guns

Im not sure if there were any exchanges for Costa while he was in the Coast Guard and doubtful you or I would have access to all the information concerning that. Whether you like the way he trains or not, he would still be a viable option for a lot of people. I don't regard him as a tool, and neither do most of his alumni. Haley and Lamb are also well respected in the circle and I find well qualified to teach/instruct me. Since they are not to your level, I assume by the name calling, whats the schedule for the IDOK series? Lots of good trainers out there, research them and participate guys, you'll be better and safer for the experience.

^^^Even though I have never actively participated in situation like you describe, I would have to agree that it couldn't hurt as long as you didn't learn any "bad" habits. But it is supposed to be fun and recreation so use it. Airsoft may more closely replicate training but doubtful its as much fun ha ha

The only real bad habit, wasn't actually that bad. When my son was training in the Marines FASTPAC team he caught a little grief for aiming lower when coming around corners clearing rooms. They wanted the guns up more, but come to find out a lot of opposition is crouched, so go figure...

They (Marines) also did a little training with paintball pistols, which my son told me hurt more than ours did haha! Harder balls and they shot faster. We were always limited to 300 fps, not sure what the PB handguns were shooting.

...chaos? Its Fair!
paintball handguns like the tippmann tpx shoot around 300 also. They were most likey using real pistols that have a cartridge that shoots a paintball type bullet called simunition

See, that's not to say he learned a "bad habit". He just employed a different way of doing something than the way the Marines do it/train. Situation should dictate imo. On a side note, you must be proud and good for him for serving, he will take a lot away from the experience imo. Got a nephew in basic right now, i'm proud.

We're very proud of him and glad to have him and his family home now. Very happy for you and your nephew as well! Definitely be proud. It's an amazing life learning experience for anyone. I didn't serve, but am very proud and thankful for all who have and are serving.

So with all you guys having handguns and training and preparing for the imminent attacks of ISIS , any of you guys have bulletproof vests or other tactical gear ?

I don't have anything, I just tell ya what I like. lol Bang for buck hard to beat $100 plate carrier and AR500 plates

Agreed, Bainite steel is hard to beat for the money and certainly a great option for a home rig. Just make sure you use some sort of "spall" protection in front of the plate to avoid bullet frags.

Kevlar or soft armor tends to deteriorate with sweat and wear, it can break down. Also it's really only rated to stop smaller hand gun rounds, typically anyway.

I have a point blank plate carrier but no plates for it .without plates its only rated for 9mm. With plates it says it can take a308 . Not sure I want to get hit by either but it makes me feel better knowing I could take a shot or two.

Are civilians allowed to own protective vests? For some reason I have it in my head that it is illegal.
For now. As with firearms, there have been moves to remove it from civilian accessibility, get it while you can. Its kinda funny in the nanny state. In most states you must where a seatbelt to protect you, helmet on a motorcycle etc. under penalty if not followed. Protect yourself from a bullet, that is frowned upon what retarded logic. Oh and suppressors for your hearing (aswell as your hunting dogs) protection. As with most civilian developed things that are turned into non civilian products, look into the man that started Point Blank, what his prior profession was and why he developed what was to become Point Blank. Get sum
