As usual, I went the deluxe route but a decent single stage turret style setup should be attainable for between $350-$400 for a wise shopper. This would get you reloading a single caliber and then you could add smaller nice to have items and multiple calibers as you see fit.

Here is the basic list I started out with;

A decent single stage press is around $150.
Powder measure and scale can be had for under $85
Die sets run about $75/caliber on average.
Get a good handheld priming tool $45
Lyman Universal case prep kit $50
*Tumblers for cleaning brass are under $50 and then media is another $8 - $50 depending on what you use. ($50 for stainless pins which are well worth the investment, IMO)
** If you plan on reloading rifle rounds then you will also have to invest in case trimming tools and a few other items like concentric measures, OAL gauges and such but by then what's another couple $$ right?

* Some guys start out with clean brass and get away without cleaning it for several cycles. If you plan to pick up range brass and shoot whatever you can get then a decent cleaning station will become a necessity very quickly.
**There's quite a bit more to reloading rifle rounds than I will get into so do your homework.

Tennessee senate passed a bill allowing open carry without a permit today. Hopefully it also passes thebhouse too. Its primarily designed to allow you to keep a loaded gun in your car or transport a loaded gun. But if it grts more people carrying im all for it.

I was looking at the the Turret style presses. Its seemed like the best for the qty and variety of calibers I would be reloading for. Which is only pistol at the moment.

I might get into 300blk but I don't want to buy a rifle.

blackout is the most fun of them all!

my plinking load is a 150gr plated bullet @ 1700FPS....smooth, pleasant..not too loud..and the best part: CHEAP

shot about 100 last night after work..

My only interest in 300blk is to run it suppressed, and at the velocity required for that, It seems like 45acp is a better all around cartridge for running suppressed.

Also, I have more or less abandoned AR platform rifles for Kalashnikov based actions.
I dunno, first things first, I need to get the reloading gear and get my feet wet. Way too many projects going right now to build an AR.

I'd like to spend a bit of time with your VEPR!

i just treat my blackout like its my .223 gun.....way more fun to slam steel with 150 grains vs. 55's

45 is great suppressed, but it aint no blackout

I'm one year away from buying a handgun :(

But I have 2 ARs, a blackout and a 223, a 7mm mag and a 308 Rem 700. I hand load for all of them.

For the blackout I use old 142gr tracers that don't light anymore, got them super cheap.

For the 7mm I use the nosler 150gr BT or Hornady SP 175gr with retumbo.

I also machine titanium and stainless muzzle brakes for 223 and 300 blackout ARs. Pics below.

Sweet! Will send you a pm with details. Was going to make one with the gunsmith who threaded it but his boss shut me down on doing it said it was eating up company time. The nerve of some people!

I almost liked your post until I read the part about Kalashnikov over AR's..

It's a easy decision when you look at ammo prices per caliber in the last 24 months.

At the peak of the gun panic/ sandy hook debacle, I was paying $.34/ round all day for 7.62x39 while .223 was $.75/ea when you could find it. Now I'm paying $.27/rd.

It's mainly economics. I can get a good AK for $700, that fires cheaper ammo. A $1k AR that costs more to feed doesn't make much sense.

Don't get me started on piston driven vs direct impingement lolol. :p:D:D:D

Plus there is something about shooti g my underfolder ak from the hip that makes you feel like a bada $$ too ! I play sniper when im shooting the ar. And rambo when I have the ak out.

Got my new Ruger Super Redhawk 9.5 SS 44MAG out this AM and got my Burris 2-7 / 32mm scope dialed in. I am sooo ready for deer season to get here!
Last season was great with my Super Blackhawk Hunter resulting in some dead deer, now I really want to reach on out there to 100+ yards. I'm only dropping 5"
at 125yds as of today with 240gr XTP jacketed hollow points. By the time deer season gets here I'll load up some 180 grain XTPs and see if I can get the drop
down to 2-3" at 125 yds.

Where I hunt, 125 is a good average distance. We only have 1 stand where u can see deer / get a shot at the 300+ distance. The last deer I shot last season beat
my all time record twice over. Saw a spike at 408 yds and drilled his azz with a Savage 6.5 Creedmore. That was a fun day until I got in trouble for shooting a deer
2 farms away from ours. LOL (Dad has now taken that deer stand down so I can't be tempted).

Not going to list everything I have but I use a S&W M&P Shield 9mm for cc and a Glock 19 home defense. A few .22s for plinking and some .223 rifles for a rainy day. I stick with calibers that ammo is plentiful and easy to get.

@GIL I have a Ruger .44mag carbine from the 70's. Looks like a 10-22 with a big hole in the barrel. Given to me by my father in law.

I can't keep any better than a 6" group at 100 yards. I've tried 240's and 225gr even the Hornady lever action stuff with the ballistic tip. I just keep it in the safe, can't hit anything, even from a rest. Plus ammo is pricy.

Any suggestions?
