Hand guns

Yeah, because everyone has a Select fire SBR 5.56 laying around. lol
I'm not sure I understand your post. Your profile shows you live in GA, is that correct? Are class 3 not available there? You can have one too. If you don't want to drop the coin for one, there are shops that rent them. Most people could have one laying around if they wanted. Here ya go http://www.bigwoodsgoods.com/the-range/facility-rental/

Just saying if you can afford to have a 15,000+ rifle then the ammo cost shouldn't be a thought. I shoot at bigwoods most of the time. I want to shoot a full auto at least once seems like fun, but paying what they sell for seems crazy in my mind.

...chaos? Its Fair!
Do you have to buy a rifle/parts as part of the law or can you modify your own into a full auto?

Class means you can own a fully automatic weapon. No restrictions on where parts come from.

Correst me if im wrong but All you really need for a weapon to be full auto is a different sear or you can modify your own.

Yeah, for it to be legal it has to be a part made before 1984 and registered with the government. Anything built other then semi auto after 1984 can only be owned by a dealer or something like that. That is why they are stupid expensive there is a small amount of inventory to go around.

From what I understand IF you don't have a trust when owning class 3 stuff if you die the government just takes them. They can't just be passed on to someone in your will.

My post had nothing to do with cost of ammo, I was simply saying that if the guys thought that shooting suppressed .22 was fun and they ran thru large amounts of ammo then they should experience said firearm. As far as crazy priced, pretty safe to say that majority of people would say that of an A/M hull, engine and supporting bolt ons. I try not to define what another person spends their own money on as rational or not. That being said price of said item is relative to ones own priorities, at least class 3 holds their value unlike these high dollar skis/parts we buy. MXMARK- I prefer the YHM and Surefire suppressors since a lot of R&D went into them, I don't think I could do better. I also like to support these companies, as well as others, so they can continue to stay in business and provide us the consumers with innovative and quality products. Trust has usually been the preferred purchase route, under the current administration though the BATF has been looking into the actual legality of it. Have fun

@wanderer1 totally understand you man. Since getting mine and I had it apart and cleaning it up since .22 is so nasty, it had me thinking about my next can. I think it would be cool to build my own and experiment with baffle designs and monocore versus stacked baffles etc. I know theres a ton of info on silencer talk I just havnet really looked into it real deeep and I kinda thougbt at o ne point you had mentioned doing one , but maybe not. as far as the rest of you guys if you have never shot full auto its amazing ! Yeah its not cheap but neither is lithium batteries race gas and carbon hulls. and suppressed full auto is even better! makes you feel like a badass super secret spy hero about to get it on with megan fox and charlize theron at the same time while taking down the entire yakuza and russian mob. Find a place that rents class 3 blow a hundred bucks and say damn that was awesome!

Cant you build your own and not be a manufacturer? I thought that was possible?

I believe it has been done in the past, but the BATF has since changed their stance on it. They may have changed it again idk since I'm not concerned with it. I had looked into it many years ago and it was quite the hassle. Especially for something that you will most likely be testing to get to work well. I had just conceded to paying YHM and Surefire for their R&D, quality and warranty. Good luck if you take on this endeavor and have fun.

sure you can....and when you submit the paperwork, they are going to ask "who built it?"

then you are gonig to say "I did"

and they are gonig to say...."Oh, so you are the manufacturer...to produce this product you are going to need a SOT license. Pay me."

fair enough I thought there was a deal where you could build your own as a home built type deal but as long as you arent buildi g and selli g them to the public its was cool but i guess not. I got one so im not worried anyhow.
