Custom/Hybrid Jloria's "Ah, freakout!" build...2012 Superfreak -4.3

pics from this weekends progress

had to install a new 'used' manifold sent from JM...i got an easy out stuck cause I drove a bolt in too far...

Reinstalled the vf2's using lock washers and loctite...greased up all gaskets with marine grease...this makes it easy to change out the next go around and prevents corrosion

had to grind down 2 areas on the x-metal steering

1. I wanted to run lock washers on the bottom...ground some flats so they would fit
build #11 044.jpgbuild #11 045.jpg

had a couple of runs with the grinder...oooops...no worries though

took about 45 minutes to grind down the chin pad holder/ steering stop

the blowsion -1 turnplate was hitting the stop before it was centered

rather than grinding the plate down, i decided to grind the stop but leave some wall to thread the screws in that hold it to the x-metal adjustable sleeve

pole spring

just ran cooling hose over some fuel hose to protect it from damaging the hull...

well see if it works, if not...I will run a plate in the future

seemed to give me the right amount of tension too

had to grind some of the start/stop switch to make it fit on this setup

This tiny little plate kept falling out.

I didn't thin to check the schematic

Is it some type of ground?

Not a ground, just a keeper that along with the high-tech zip-tie keeps the wires from pulling out. Seen many old S/S switches that end up missing that piece...

BTW, build is looking great, keep it up!

Would you guys help me out and post some pics of your limiting strap setup for the x-metal pole?

I just need some ideas for the part that attaches to the handlebar area please.

I wanted to put some type of L-bracket but I can't find anything that will work with scratching the pole.

Thanks.

I thought of an idea of using some type if eyebolt to replace one of the bolts that hold the xmetal sleeve. They are 3/8-16. I think this would work perfect and give me a very clean look.

I'm moved by DASA power!
That is too big I'll take a pic of mine for you tonight, try and keep it as small a profile as possible it can catch your thighs or worse, get ahold of the hood, ask me how I know about both instances!

They have others and can make custom sizes too...I can find something that has a smaller eye

Thanks so much man...Did you get the parts at a local hardware store?

Yep real cheap too, it's actually a stainless backing plate for a u-bolt bent in half just enough to get a stainless clip in it, stream lined, angled away from the hood, and cheap. A through bolt in the slot for your x-metal adjustment plate and you are set, get a little stainless u-bolt setup for your tray and you have both attachment points.
