Liter motor dreaming...

I honestly don't know as they were both bought used and it has been a while now. But I have it in my mind that epoxy in cases can not be forever permanent. And I have not heard anyone ever claim that it will last forever and ever....and for me that is not cool.....rebuilding a top end is no biggie but picking out epoxy and re doing it or worse yet it falling out under operation at some point and causing air leaks and nasty stators is ridiculous.

If TS tells me it is life long I will believe them but as of now does anyone REALLY know that to be fact?

I haven't directly asked my builder about it (Art @ Jetworks), but he hasn't told me anything about it NOT lasting long, either.
I'll ask him next time I talk to him.

Even if that was true...I don't want to deal with re-epoxying cases along with those things.

you should put new crank seals on your ski every year. why the hell are you so worried about the epoxy that your just going to have to reapply? pony up and by that sweet lil screamer

If you ask me, if your gonna build a motor for looks and something you can open up and be proud of at a show. Go Xscream.

If you want something that is going to destroy anything else.... and mostly likley look close to "stock"

Jetworks.

So I assume you made a decision?

WHAT!? Dude I have gotten 10 years out of 2 motors and only replaced one front crank seal. And the only reason the first motor went is because I sank it in Daytona and then came home to a blizzard and let it sit. And even then I used a mallet and a piece of wood and some PB blaster to get the pistons moving and rode it another 12 tanks of gas until it blew.

I have never in all my years heard of anyone preemptively replacing crank seals every year.

I am worried about epoxy because as I said I have seen it deteriorate and need picked out and re done....and I ain't buying a 5k motor with epoxy unless I have no choice.

OEM cases are forever.

Yeap. Art talked me into switching Impellers. LoL.

What kinda Jaggoff talks a customer insterested in buying a motor into only buying blackjacks, then further talks him down to only swapping impellers.

Seriously though, hes the best.

How come the SB PRODUCTS cases are not compatible? Do they only work with DASA cylinders? Is a DASA motor a chit load more expensive than a TS?

I have posted prices of DASA's motors(also with my cases) a few times.

My cases are setup for DASA's transfers, they could be made to use a factory type transfer area, or any other, but so far, there hasn't been enough demand to change the transfer area.

The nice thing about billet is they can be made in any configuration and changed on the fly to accomodate most anything.

If it were up to me, Id rather have cast. Its a lot lighter, and more often than not you dont need the extra strength....

over the area of a whole motor I believe it would add up to more than 3lbs...

maybe 3lbs difference for just the case....

and as always depends on the quality and contents of the casting, how much silica is in it etc....

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the cases.

HP to weight ratio, and location of the weight is much more important than the total number.
