Make double-sure you find ALL the pinholes and fill them properly. I wish I had spent more time on just that.
They show up best in primer.

Some observations from my build:

  • Double-check all your bolt lengths. Many inserts are shorter than stock to allow for the super-low profile of the ski. You don't want to break stuff with bolts that are too long.
  • If you are getting the integrated front foothold, the standard coupler cover will not fit. You need to cut it in half lengthwise and perhaps grind some material off the top.
  • Don't put the ebox over too far to the pipe side. The ebox cap will interfere with the head pipe.
  • The hull sides are so thin that a standard bilge fitting will have the nut bottom out before the fitting is snug. Use an o-ring or a washer behind the nut from the bilge side.
  • When you glue in the hood seal, be sure that the front-most portion is as far back as possible.
  • Make sure your hood side hood hooks are on the right way and not flipped 180 degrees.
  • You can most definetely fit two 500GPH bilge pumps by the midshaft.
  • Lock-tite your trim & steering nozzle bolts.
  • Hang the :):):):):) on. This hull is ridiculous.

I am running a box that Tem built. Super-light, very small, and not annoying. It's louder than stock alright, but not very much and it has a deep tone to it. Certainly much better than the XMW box I used to have.
I test-fitted the stocker and it seemed to fit fine.

I'm Running my chainsaw loud TDR box. I've been running it since my first limited sn setup. It keeps getting louder with each engine upsize I do. I've been thinking about the ATP or xmw box. It's a cost prohibitive thing though. The TDR fits well but the noise factor is aggrivating. Mcdog said u could hear my ski above the other skis at daytona. Loud skis suck IMO.

An aftermarket box would sure be nice. My tank was slammed against the box an I could barely the the straps hooked on the tank. I would buy a different box if I did it again. It would make things a piece of cake.

I put the new xmetal box in mine the other day and the fit is damn near perfect. The only issue is it may require me to cut a little off the exhaust side because the outlet is so tall. It also seemed to leave plenty of room between the tank and box.

I going with the next gen x-metal box, I hear that is a good fit.

lt is a great fit! XS made the bottom with an angle in it and that makes it fit great in the ROK.l would think it would work in any am hull.

l had to cut the exit side right at the angle about 1.5 inchs to keep mine from rubbing the side of the hull.

The coupler cover from a raider works great, it necks down perfectly, just need to cut a little off the length...

What padding are you all using under the turf. Because of the hump from the pump (haha, that rhymes, no homo)? I plan to use 25, but wasn't sure if there was room in the footholds for 25 on the bottom or if everyone is tapering it down by the time it gets to the holds. I have a sheet of both sitting around so I'll figure it out, but any advice is appreciated.

I also plan to use the left over to make a pole pad, since the one I bought isn't going to cut it because of where the pole hits the hood.

I am at that same stage. I just put 25mm on the middle. I sanded the center down so the hump wasn't as big. I probably have closer to 8mm thickness in the center. I'm not sure how thick I can go in the holds. Was planning on just 8mm.
Won't have time to work on it again until later in the week. I borrowed a Motorhome off the lot last weekend to take to Talledega. On the way home I destroyed a Coyote and did a bunch of fiberglass damage. My next week of nights will now be fixing that. Sucks......
