okay. well i´m still not sure. this will be a flatwater boat that will on occasion se the surf. maybe a few rides a year.
are scruppers good. do they drain water super fast?

i want to goo with scrupper. cause from the sounds of it its the best drain and i dont have to drill any large holes in my beautiful hull. but has it´s downfall on leaking in water and leaking out air when upside down (sinking). i dont want to sink my beautiful hull :(
thats the dilemma. i like the bilge pump(s) but maybe they wont be enough when i go to be a badass FW freestyler. fist pumps and all.

They don't get anywhere near as much water in them as a SJ, if you properly install the hood seal and hood that is. You won't be doing many subs with a superfreak! The nose rocker makes it quite difficult, you won't be missing much though the aerials you can pull off with these skis more than makes up for not being able to effectively do subs.

You will be very happy with the scupper, even when my freak is upside down (when I let others ride it) it takes a lot of time to swamp it... Knock on wood it has only been swamped once with my old XS setup by my good friend from VA...

Even then the ski did not sink...

Like buck said these ski's ride dry with the proper hood fitment... And subs are hard to do, I think I have done one and it was a lot of work, lol

There are entire threads dedicated to scupper discussion. You will get people on both sides of the fence. I have a scupper in mind and have had zero issues. There is a small trickle leak when sitting but nothing major. Most of my surf riding is fairly small surf. Even if the boat does end up upside down, I am never far away.

What are you running for pipe and motor set up? If you are running a B pipe, the new Xscream water box would make your life much easier. I made the stock one work, but it's tight. If you are having him set it up for the stock waterbox and stock tank I would have him move the hull inserts for the front of the tank 1" forward and the front mounts for the waterbox 2" forward.

Foothold location depends a lot on your pole length and type of riding. I would say in general they are in a decent spot for most people.

will probobly go to a atp waterbox.

i´m running a stock 62t/61x. with ada girled head 35cc. factory b-pipe mod, atp epic ignition. stock waterbox. stock tank.
thinking about going to a kart tank and atp waterbox.

i´m not a picky guy so the stock position will work good :)

will go with scupper. no need for a switch. no need for pumps. no need to mess up the hull.
will have to try it at least :)
i have a atp scrupper on one hull i have laying around. would that one fit maybe? or what would be the best choice as far a scupper goes. maiplug?

Per, I think the scupper is good. Like you said no pump/elect. battery drain problems, you can run a small battery if no TL . Plus it dumps the water out many times faster than even a 1000 GPH pump when you look at the actual flow rate . If someone could make a smart scupper that would stay closed upside down (magnet, weighted cam, whatever) it would be one small step for mankind .

some day , in all my spare time,
I want to try a small electo magnet and relay . set up so as long as the motor is running the relay is powered open so the mag is not energized and when the mtr stops the relay closes and energizes the mag to hold the scupper closed

I quit running a bilge in my freak. Scupper only. U could have Berky install a one way check valve inside the hull if ur worried.

no one way check valve. what am i gona do if it breaks. yes cut my nice hull. not a good idea :D haha.

and carl that was i very good idea. ive been thinking about making a spring loaded scupper with a bilge pump holding it open.
so when the there is water in the hull the bilgepump would use waterpressure it builds up to open the scupper. if it tips over the pump will not get any water and the pressure of the pumping air wouldnt be enough to open it.
just an idea but it has some flaws :d like when you are standing still if water was in the hull. it would be pumped open(maybe) and let water in to the hull. so then i thought about running a maxiplug in the scupper tube close to the bulkhead and that would help with that problem. but then there is starting to be alot of crappy stuff in there. so i gave up on this idea.

I think the scupper (xmetal) works very well on the superfreak. They are great in surf and flat. I have had ski upside down in surf for awhile without issue.

HOWEVER, i prefer and recommend a bilge pump for a backup. It will not run except after a sub or particularly wet trick/fall. When it comes on it will alert you to a problem. I had a waterline leak that bilge alerted me to. Once had a piece of turf from batt box that was stuck behind scupper causing leak that bilge picked up. Finally i had long exhaust hose pop off at the bulkhead and again bilge saved ski from sinking.

Tem will tell you that I tried to re-invent the wheel on my ski and tried to come out with something different than the X Metal scupper. After tons of time and thought I said screw it and just did the X metal. It has been working just fine so far. Bruins on the board here has been working on some good ideas for an improved scupper style but I don't think he is building them yet.

No scupper on mine and I couldn't be happier.
Works awesome.
My new 1L motor should be done in a month or so and I just bought a 148 mag, too.
Toying with the idea of a PFP, as well. I'll probably just get everything dialed in with a B-pipe first and get used to the power first.
