John, I don't know how to tell you this nicely so I'm just going to say it. There is a HUGE hole in your ski. I have some fiberglass if you need it.

Talk about a "effin" winter project...crazy thing is, you'll have that chit knocked out and painted by this weekend.

plus, you got more posts on this build thread than most peeps do in a career on here.

Shane , I don't know how to tell you nicely , but some one has whole tray area off the back of your carbon freak ...... and I don't have any glass if you need it.

Lots of sanding later and some glass, this is the basic form. Obviously, there will be lots more fiberglass and the shape will be more refined but this is the first step... Not bad for a little over an hours worth of work tonight. I got motivated...lol

Shane, I will need some resin if you've got enough to loan me until I can get some shipped to me.

It's a free form. Glued the edges so the glass was a little higher than I wanted and let the weight of the resin and gravity do the rest. I did have to pull one edge up and tighten it up a little but can't really beat the simplicity.

l'm impressed John! You may be on the brink of a version 2.0 Stunt hull! Seriously,l'm excited to see how this will change the ride characteristics of the ski.

Come on,l know there are some HATERS out there dying to give their point 0 two cents worth......

John,,

are you gonna smooth out the transition on the outside chines? I don't know much about reshaping the front for changing the ride characteristics, but I bet Berky would have some good advise about making some mods too. Nice work....I was right, you'd have that crap knocked out in no time. I hate you.

I didn't think much of the outside chines until I started taking pictures of the new profile. That center section was so drastic, it made the sides look fairly benign. If I do anything with the outside, I plan to finish the center first.

How about a before and after pic of the profile for a quick comparison.

If you know of a way to make one picture semi-transparent, I can lay one on top of the other. If not, this will have to do. I laid a few layers of 9oz weave tonight. Tomorrow, I will try to put a bunch of filler on there and get the shape perfect before laying a couple more layers of glass.

I also laid an extra layer all the way around the edge as a sacrificial layer because I know a good portion of the top layer, around the edge, will get knocked out when I start sanding and leveling.

I did buy it at Lowes about 3 years ago. At the time it was $399 but I had a 20% off coupon and they only had the floor model left and bumped the price down to $339... So when all was said and done, I paid $287 with tax included for the compressor, 10 ft of 220v wire, and the 220v plug. Talk about highway robbery!! lol

Damn, there is no curvature at all to the front of the hull. It's rather abrupt.

You don't really see that until you see the two pics up beside each other. But looks dramatically different.Should be interesting how she rides out.
