SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
I didn't tape off where the screws sit when I painted my motor...paint crumbled...screws backed out...stator cover popped off at full speed...bye bye bendix, stator, and brand new jetinetics flywheel.

First time I rebuilt my SJ motor I installed the rear crank seal backwards, thinking the three little tabs were spacers, I installed them facing the inner seal. After like 2 rides, the seal poped out of the cases but the motor still ran fine. I called Art from Jetworks baffeled as to what happened and he nailed the problem right off and informed me of the correct installation. Of course I had to do a whole tear down to fix it.

i have done the same thing word for word.

I am surprised no one has mentioned hooking up the carb lines backwards. Return to pulse and pulse to return and such. I know I did it at least once.

When I was a teenager we had a 300SX, completely stock (no electric bilge). It got a little filled with water doing subs and whatnot, I came into the beach as it was my 180lb fathers turn to ride. He said we should drain it and I said he could just ride it and the (stock) bilge would drain the water. Well he managed to get it up to a whopping 5km/h or so and dumped it on the intake side.

We drained it after that and it ran for a whole 5 minutes before burning the shiite out of the lower rod bearing.

Before I put an electric bilge in my 650 about 4 months ago, I was doing subs and would get about 3 gallons (literally) of water in off of one sub. I couldn't get on plane or anything. It didn't screw up the ski, I just had to go and tip it over upside down like a retard on the beach every time lol.

Seen this one too:

Installing a yamaha flywheel and making sure its nice and tight only to realize the bendix is still sitting on the bench.

Such a funny post!!!!

I've installed it without the bendix more times then I have with it. Every time it happens, I step out of the garage for an hour to cool off.

I once did a stator ohm check and the numbers looked in spec, changed a voltage regulator thinking that's why my battery would not charge. Put it all back together only to later find out that the lightning coil wires would ohm 1.4 until you wiggle the wires(then the numbers would be all over the place)...always check the wires also when doing ohm checks ! rookie mistake !

hope this helps someone some day.

I did the same thing, spent almost 2 weeks trying to find the issue!
