Yamaha Octane build

All the inserts were finished and glued in place. 33 inserts had to be fabicated for this ski. I resealed the back plumbing with 5200. Then we started pouring foam in the back. The foam was used to help smooth out the voids and transistions to make it easier to lay glass over the motor plates and the edges of the front mounting pod.

Red dyed fiberglass is layed over the motor plates and other inserts. About half of the red "pods" will be exposed, texiliium will cover the bottom and sides of the hull outlining the red motor mount area. Its hard to get the texilum to bend corners, so its only going to get laid on the flat parts of the inner hull. It looks messy now but should really tidy up after laying a few pieces of texilium

I laid in some texilium, its not really for strength as much as it is for covering up my glass work. Once the top is glued on I will run some more on the vertical sides of the hull. I hate working with the tex. its very hard to get to lay nice and have nice edges, but it does look nicer than several different colors of fiberglass inside the hull.

I also fitted the motor and pump again to make sure my motor will still shim up properley since I layed glass over the motor beds.

I am ready to glue the top on as soon as I received the glue which could be here as soon as monday

I going to use the WDK pole, the red cover I have happens to match the octane top deck color. I'll be running a xmw handlepole single tube bracket and some cut down WDK hood hooks. It will all be set up just like a superjet in the handlepole bracket area. Pics show a mockup of the pole in place to make sure everything will work together. I plan on painting the bottom deck black and turf it with black diamond hydroturf

i had lone octanes boat in my garage for the past couple of weeks and really paid attention to some of the smaller details I never bothered to look at

that hoodhook setup is 2nd to none

trying to get corey to swap in a stock 144 pump.......I think it would really loosen the ski up and drop some lbs.......

You all must be referring to the "updated" octane hood hook design, cause the original setup on my '02 was worthless. The hood would pop off even if the latch stayed closed!!! :11: They came up with the new style for '03 & up I think....
