low idle makes mine sound like its camming like a muscle car. lol and the motor shakes even worse than yours. its fine though. or at least it has been for a number of years :-)

Being young like you are, that is some of the best advice you can get.
you will nickel and dime yourself to death and wonder where all your money went if you arent careful. and that doesnt matter how much money you make. making goals and sticking to them helps a lot.

lol ok maybe not. if it were me i would drill the cracks (yes all the way through) and ground out V's for each crack (about 1/2 through or so doesnt have to be to crazy deep) and fill it with epoxy. let it cure and sand it somewhat smooth. then go ride and forget about...

i use an aftermarket wheel even with a yamaha cable. its just nice to have one more place to adjust the tension on the throttle cable. and fyi if you are going to buy one, get ADA's. its the cheapest. heres a link

i dont want to intimidate you or make you nervous, but you just opened a huge can of worms for yourself. Lots of variables. Going to take longer than you think to get where you want it i would imagine.
i use a cheapo (like $40) Bell BMX helmet that i got at wal-mart. its already saved my noggin a few times :-)
just make sure you get something that you can remove the liner in to rinse. the bell i have snaps in.
