Bought one of his RN rocker kits and he has been a great help. Answers any questions I have promptly and his kits are great. Highly recommended seller!
Find out the tongue weight of your specific hitch. Most decent hitches are about 500lb. A very solid mount to the frame is a must. If your SUV is old, make sure there is no rust and that it is in good condition
I weighed mine before with everything still installed behind the coupler (midshaft, pump, turf) and im going to weigh it after everything is glassed in to find out any difference.
the kit itself weighs almost nothing. it's how heavy you go with the resin and reinforcing. I'm trying to keep...
Stock impeller works just fine. The 08+ prop is already a big hub (75mm) design. I've heard you will lose quite a bit of top end and only a small improvement in bottom switching to a Hooker 9/15.
I run a limited b pipe as well and the stock prop works great. Even better with a Solas mag.
Don't rig it, just get a new cable. The stock cable has 2.5 inches of travel. The schmity1 cable has a little over 4.5 I believe. The quick steer turn plate and nozzle mods help a little but nothing like a new long throw cable does. I have a 2010 SJ, believe me, I tried.
Paid $6200 for my brand new 2010 SJ. There weren't many decent used SJs for sale around my area at the time I was shopping for one. Plus it's pretty cool not breaking down every ride because you picked up someone else's hacked up ski. I don't regret it one bit.
if youre running the stock cable, you are at it's limits. schmity1 here on the forums makes a nice cable with even more throw than the 96-07 cables. I get full throw both ways with about a 1/4 inch before the cable bottoms out at the stops.
the cable should be under relatively little stress...
Didn't realize it was happening on every SJ he rides. Gotta be riding style then I'd assume.
OP, are you porpoising while riding in the footholds? If the front end is bouncing up and down while you ride, it could cause the pump to unhook.
