Pro-Tec trim system with nice throw. (pics)

Yes, I just used JB weld to hold that washer on. I welded a small SS nut on the turn nozzle pivot bolt for the other end to hook on to. I can still fit the socket over it to tighten. Good idea disconnecting the steering when on the trailer.

Pro-Tec trim system with nice throw. (pics)

I just set up my Pro-Tec Raider nozzle on my Super Jet and thought I'd show some pics of the process. As is, the Pro-Tec nozzle doesn't have that much throw so I ground the trim ring and turn nozzle slightly to maximize throw in all directions. I ground down these area's on the trim ring even...

    Coil Testing

Sometimes I get no spark on the rear cylinder. I suspect bad plug wires because when I put new boots on, the wire was broken off inside so there could be other breaks. I'm still not 100% on where to put the test leads. I was putting them both on the end of the plug wires starting with the...

    Coil Testing

I'm trying to test my coil and spark plug wires and get nothing when I connect the meter leads to each spark plug wire simultaneously. I assume this measures the resistance of the secondary windings in the coil as well as the spark plug wires. Anyway, I get nothing. Is there a break in the...

That sounds like a good idea. I just wish we didn't get water inside in the first place...

    Electrical Box idea

Yes, it is blasphemy, I know! After reading these responses, I won't give up on the Yamaha box just yet, although I'm not the only one having trouble with them. I have a new gasket coming from Yamaha so that should help but it looks like the design of the cable 'seals' it what's causing the...

    Electrical Box idea

I have a Sea-Poo e-box with nice screw on grommets to seal the wires going in and a good rubber seal all the way around it. I was thinking of mounting this and running all the Yamaha goodies in it to solve the leaky Super Jet e-box issues. Has anybody done this? Any thoughts?

Can I grind this down? Need help ASAP pls.

That's a good point and back flips are a main reason to put this thing on. If I could already do flat water back flips, I wouldn't need the trim nozzle though. Have a look at my Super Jet build thread in my signature and tell me if you think I have enough power. It feels like I do but who...

Can I grind this down? Need help ASAP pls.

Thanks for the quick responses! Having never even tried trim on a Super Jet, this is the kind of info I'm looking for. However, glass work is no big deal to me either so I'm inclined to take it down a bit. What about nose stabs...would you not use trim and full turn in that situation? I...

Can I grind this down? Need help ASAP pls.

I'm setting up a Pro-Tec trim system with custom hardware, etc so it has lots of travel. I will need to trim the rear lip of the hull but I notice that the nozzle will also hit each corner of the pump area if I turn sharp with full up trim. I don't want to trim the nozzle length because it...

    Pro-Tec trim system

OK, I have the trim setup in front of me now. I will weld the end of the nozzle back on. I assume people cut them for clearance with the hull. I think I'll get great throw even with a full length nozzle. After reading a bunch of other threads, I think the diameter to go for is 85mm. I'm...

    sj flame arrestor

From my experience, the paper ones not only let more water in, but completely choke the engine when wet. The open mesh (like a K&N) may let more water in but I've only run them with Outerwears Pre-filters which totally repel the water.

    what scupper???

According to Rule, their bilge pumps are good for about 800 hours. Still mixed on this scupper install though.... I don't want to do a bunch of work and find that it leaks while sitting but I like the idea of getting the water out quickly after some underwater time. Then there's the inverted...

    Spark issue (fixed!)

I put on some MSD plug boots on and will give that a try. When I went to strip the rubber casing from the wire, the strands broke about an inch further up from where I was stripping from so most of them must have been damaged.

Run the stock F/A or if you don't have one then you can run an Outwears cover on your K&N. Also, there are different K&N options; a paper like material that stays wet and doesn't flow, and a wire mesh style which is closer to the way the stock screens are which is way better.

    what scupper???

I was considering installing a scupper or one way but after reading this, I'm not sure now... I haven't had much luck with bilge switches so I end up leaving my two 500GPH Rule bilge pumps on a lot but I don't want to burn them out. Besides, it seems there is always water to pump out (I have a...

    Pro-Tec trim system

I've got a used Raider one coming for my freestyle Superjet. It (along with several others I notice) has the turn nozzle cut shorter. He is including the cut off piece so I can weld it back on. Question: 1.) Why is everybody cutting the nozzle shorter? If it's agreed that I should weld it...

    Spark issue (fixed!)

Thanks for the input. I was planning to try that actually but then wondered how those connections could be fine for a while and then suddenly cause problems. It wouldn't hurt, I suppose, so I'll do it. Any other thoughts? Anything that could get worse with prolonged operation/heat?
