old age
bad oring seals (2 of them) inside the mid shaft letting water wash out spline grease
when was the last time you greased it?
bad motor mounts and bad alignment help speed up the wear also
you still may want to jet it like i suggested as your on premix now
premix causes lean fuel issues
oil injected carbs will run richer than the same carb on premix
try running the low adjuster to 2 1/2 turns out and recheck idle screw so your not too high on idle opening
all new mikuni sbn...
did i mention that with these settings it would be
very hard to start (if you set to 37*)
you would have no retard at all=straight 37* timing all the way to the revlimiter at 12,250 rpms
those msd switch settings are f..k..up
this is what you have set by this pic
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
retard begin speed=6500 (way too high)
led for timing=on (ok to set timing/just turn to off for run)
max speed rev limit=12,250 rpms (wrong)
holeshot rev limit=6750...
yes
by drilling out the holes you can move them just a little bit
37* sounds too high to me
32*-34* max would be more realistic spec's on race gas
list your other settings you have set on your dip switches
i drill the pickup holes one 32nd drill bit bigger
this is so they can move a little more to adjust them to being closer together
retard one pickup while advancing the other one with the extra movement
try to get within 1 degree
static advance about 30* is a good start for pump gas setups
why would you say that?
he said if he keeps blipping it, its fine
this is a lean condition when coming off wot and won't hit again as he has explained
trust me... as i have been there with single carb conversions on 62t setups
make sure you buy the 62t part # gasket
not starting with 61x part #
when you use the 61x gasket the holes are not in the same place as the 62t gasket
there are casting bridges in the 62t heads that the 61x head dont have
yamaha had to move the cooling holes in the gasket to miss the bridges in...
