I just mentioned cleaning up his connections from on the whole starter circuit as i've had issues in the past with salted up connections not giving the Solenoid enough 'Juice' to engage the starter/bendix. I'm no expert but spent plenty on time bent over a ski trying to problem solve....... so...
The thing is you'll just break it again no matter how hard you try and repair it. If you can afford it i would buy a AM pole for sure. Loads of good makes out there and can be picked up second hand.

All my ride crew love the 61x motor for this reason, we all ride them. Maybe the 62T with 44mm carbs will piss all over a 61x but the your fuel usage will be a lot greater. Just open the throttle earlier to go higher :D
I used to run a fully ported 760 62T/61X in my Evo and that let go so grabbed hold of a friends ported 701 61x/61x and if im honest i like the 61x motor more. It seems to be more punchy at the bottom.
