Pretty much the same motor as im running over here but with a 48 Novi. Like you say it takes a while to come on but goes like a rocket and keeps pulling right through. Perfect for surf with no noticable fuel usage over a 701.
Maybe don't let your ski go upside down :p? Since ive been riding ive never had plugs survive getting wet, what filters are you running as i'd say that's your main problem.
My SV-1 arrived here at my sponsors shop earlier this week. I've not seen on or even ridden one yet but I'm hearing great things about these hulls.
First impressions are great build quality with a thick lay up which is still light.

So who's big on surf stance flips. I've never tried, feels weird having one foot forwards to try one. I'm guessing i'm going to need a bigger wave as the rotation is slower?
I flip well with my feet in the back of the ski but find when i go bigger i flat land a fair amount of the time :(
