Hands down the Rickter is tons stronger than a Superjet. You'll only end up upgrading to a purpose built surf hull anyway so if you have the cash and chance to buy a RTR Rickter i'd go for it.
I have been riding my FR2 evo for over 2 years and it's taken some serious abuse. FS-2 is only 4kg...
I got a 13/19 solas with the pump and it's pretty nice, seem to have more bottom end power. I noticed more with hook up especially when i agressively surf ride. My motor is 61x +5mm crank (810cc) with ported B pipe.
Picked up a 148 pump with shaft and RRP trim cheap a few weeks ago so ive thrown it in my Evo for now until my SV-1 is built. I rode some nice surf last weekend and am impressed with the added hook up over the 144 solas. I also have noticed a little more power especially when my ski was climbing...
Reading this gives us all a reminder that mother nature can be a cruel mistress but i'm glad that you have lived to tell the tale and it's amazing you have your ski back albeit needing a bit of love.
Hope you get her up and shreading again soon.
I managed some time getting on with it the other day and trimmed the hull and sanding it making the 2 Halves fit nice and snug ready for it to be bonded together. I also cut the foothold buckets ready to be installed.
I'm going to do a bit more on this next week when I've got time.
I'm...
Sweeeeet man looks the nuts! I've just ordered some Thrust goodies for mine too. Interesting running the plate that short, every other i've seen is alot longer.
What motor is that your running?
I personally wouldn't bother but i've had the last 2 years of riding on a FR2 Evo and loved it for surf riding. Ive ridden a few short ski's with long plates and i hated it. Have you tried the Edge? thats a surf boat but still performs on flat water on good for a general ride.
That's the cheapest Solas 148 set up i've seen, Which website is that off? It does say 08+ Sj where i want pre 08. I have just bought a 155 but i'm not convinced it'll be any good in surf. A friend of mine has just swapped from a 144 solas to 148 H20 and he said the hook up is a huge difference.
Managed to grab a 155 pump cheap so looking for some help with props. I am still unsure if this is going to be any good in surf but i'm willing to try. Pump will be going in my new Tigercraft SV-1 running a 61x +5mm crank (810cc) on B pipe, MSD etc. This motor tends to hit later than a SS 61x...
Yeh a buddy has a 46 on his and he acctually liked the 46 more over a 48. I should really borrow one and see the difference. I'm planning on a 148 pump next (either h20 or most likely solas)
