Great idea Robert! Kind of on topic...... Just an idea. How come nobody has done any 'how to' vids for youtube? Like how to R&R carbs and rebuild them, how to R&R a bendix, how to trouble shoot no spark, installing a head, water line routing, etc. It would really help out the newbs...

Wow, wonder how could it have messed up the crank bearing? That would take alot of force! Was it kicking back on the starter when you were trying to start it? Too much timing advance at low RPMs will cause the backfire also.

If you are ok with using 'mismatched' cases, you can just about get a 650 cases for the cost of shipping and just replace the bottom half. I've been running mismatched cases for over a year.

Some of the race carbs are not as great at fuel metering at lower RPMs....where we want it.

I'm building one from a Waveraider hood and a stock squarenose hood. Coming along pretty well. It's still a long way from done, but I need to put up a build thread I guess.

I've seen a guy come out & do BIG nose stabs on a stock kawa650 with a bilge pump & no foot holds, so anythings possible. Ride the snot out of it until you break the pole. it will go first. BUT, I would not spend a bunch of $$ on it fixing it up as the old SJ's or even the 750 kawa is a better...
