It needs to be tapped for 8mm not 6mm. 6mm is too small and won't work. You're right about not doing it with the motor assembled, though.

Actually, a complete XFT X-7 hood kit is only $100 more than a complete setup from Wamilton. All epoxy and bagged too.:burnout: That's for the visual carbon hood. The glass lower end models are $250 cheaper than Wammer(and still bagged epoxy/cored construction).
